Vocabulary on Exam 4

Words will be in questions to test your understanding, such as:

Why is absolute temperature important for thermodynamics?

Can potential energy in the world ever increase? Explain why or why not?

What base units are needed to define a kilowatt?

Explain whether the world is an open system or a closed system based on how those terms were defined in this class.

ASSIGNMENT 23, Question 2b

Life expectancy+ Education+ Standard of living= Human development index

Having higher life expectancy doesn’t require consuming more energy.

Greater education doesn’t require consuming more energy.

In many cases, it can be possible to have a higher standard of living without consuming more energy because a lot of energy is wasted.

ASSIGNMENT 23, Question 2d

By the coronavirus epidemic, people are trying to stay in the home. As a result, they don't use their own cars and other transportation like bus, metro, and airplanes. So, greenhouse gas emission are getting less than normal condition.

Factories in china has shut down, there are less planes, less cars etc., all of these have a positive impact among the environment.

Because of coronavirus epidemic, people are trying not to go out as a result, they don’t use their cars and also other transportations, so greenhouse gas emissions are less than normal.

The covid-19 decreased the pollution because most of the workers stayed at home and most of the factories and industries for the countries reduced or stopped working. Which affected positively on the greenhouse gas emissions.

I think the coronavirus reduce greenhouse gas because it reduces the frequency of people go outside and using car.

Definitely we can say the air pollution. Because of the coronavirus epidemic, people are being quarantine and a lot of cars are not going on the road so the air pollution are decreasing and could be good effects to everything including greenhouse gas emissions.

2. What does a greenhouse gas do?

3. Which are the most important greenhouse gases?

_____ Carbon dioxide

_____ Water vapor

_____ Nitrogen

_____ Carbon

_____ Methane

kinetic energy = (0.5)(mass)(velocity)2

mass = (2)(kinetic energy)/(velocity)2

mass = (2)(625,000 kg m2/sec2)/((95,000/3,600)m/sec)2

mass = (1,250,000 kg m2/sec2)/((950/36)m/sec)2

mass = (12,500 kg)/(95/36)2

mass = 1795 kg

mass = 1800 kg (2 significant digits)
