Teresa Coates is the Event and Education Coordinator for Shannon

Fabrics. Known for the luxuriously soft Cuddle® fabrics, Shannon Fabrics

brought Teresa on board two years ago as the company’s national

educator. With 30+ years of sewing experience and more than two

decades as a quilter, Teresa has an array of knowledge and skills that

she uses in her workshops with both quilters and sewists alike. For the last

decade she has been teaching at local stores, regional conferences and

national events, sharing insight on the best tools and techniques for sewing

with a wide range of fabrics. These days, she specializes in teaching others

how to easily work with Cuddle®, Luxe Cuddle®, Embrace® and other

fabrics that can be intimidating to those not yet in-the-know.

You may have seen Karen Montgomery’s name before. As the owner

of The Quilt Company in Allison Park, Pennsylvania, she produces a

line of popular books and patterns. A longtime designer and lover

of all things fabric, Karen has embarked on a variety of creative

ventures including hosting a business retreat for fabric shop owners

and even writing her own column for FabShop magazine.Maximize, Prioritize and Personalize for Profit

As the owner of a brick and mortar quilt shop for 25 years,

Karen has weathered the ups and downs of the industry with a savvy

understanding of how to run a successful business. Join us as she shares her methods for maximizing

the sales in your store, through product positioning and employee training. Hear her do’s and don’ts

for dealing with competitors as she shares the successes as well as the mistakes she has made. Karen

will offer expert suggestions for how you can keep customers coming back. Being a designer, wholesale

supplier, author and teacher provides her with a unique and practical perspective. Always willing to

Stitch up three different blocks -- without cutting any fabric -- and create a display for your shop or class! Discover how to Cross-Podinate and grow Pods® and ultimately grow your sales. Your customers, students, and staff will love the ease of making and selling these pre-cut patchwork projects. We will discuss clever ways to present Pods® demos in a variety of spaces, create classes (without cutting mats!), and build community with social media. Both experienced quilters and newbies will be inspired by all the Pods-abilities! Sewing machines will be provided.

Learn the simple and beautiful art of needle tatting. We will cover the double stitch, picot and how to join. Then, as time allows, you will begin creating tatted flowers to embellish a note card, which can be finished on your own.

1. Entries must be submitted by customers of EE Schenck Company. They may be made by the Store owner, staff or a customer.

2. Entries may have been in other shows but not submitted to TRENDS in the past. We prefer all entries were made within the last two years. Please remove any award ribbons.

3. Quilts or Apparel may be hand or machine-quilted, appliquéd or embellished.

4. All entries must have a label with the Account name and address attached to the quilt back or inside of garment.

5. All entries must be clean, ironed and ready to display. EACH QUILT MUST HAVE A ROD POCKET 3” DEEP FOR HANGING.

6. All entries with completed entry forms (pinned to the entry) must be received by August 31, 2018 in order to be photographed.

7. An industry professional will judge the entries and award a winner.

8. The winner will receive a $100 credit toward purchases from EE Schenck Company.

9. Every effort will be taken to protect each of these handcrafted treasures from harm. They will be hung out of reach in a non-smoking area. However, all entries are submitted at your own risk, and EE Schenck Company will not be held liable.

10. All entries will be returned to the address provided on the label on the back of the quilt. They will be sent via UPS during the week following the show unless other arrangements are made.

NOTE: Entries that do not meet our display requirements may not be displayed.
