ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS for TENOR TROMBONE (Fall 2019) ORCHESTRA Trombone Orchestra Auditions will be held on Monday August 26 th from 5:00-6:00pm (Amy 219). Results will be announced immediately after. Those placed in orchestra DO NOT need to take the concert bands audition on Tuesday. Plan on taking the earliest spots possible or moving up as needed. 1. Prepare the required pieces in the packet. You should seek out reference recordings. • Excerpts from Tchaikovsky Symphony No.4 o Mvt.1 – meas.161 to K o Mvt.3 – meas. 170 – meas. 204 o Mvt.4 – meas. 38 to B • Holst Saturn from “The Planets” – play rehearsal 1 to 1 meas. after rehearsal 2 • Puts Hymn to the Sun – play E to F 2. Sight-Reading (could include any clef). 3. Scales WILL NOT be asked. CONCERT BANDS (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band) Concert Band Auditions will be held on Tuesday August 27 th from 3:00-4:30pm (Gore Recital Hall). Results will be announced in the evening as soon as possible. Plan on taking the earliest spots possible or moving up as needed. 1. Results will be announced immediately after. • Snidero Rose from Jazz Conception – play all (play upper cues for lead consideration) • Sight-Reading • Improvisation - your choice of F blues, Bb blues, or Take the A-Train.
