That letter was written in reply to one diitetl 26th Sov. 1850, and its Iwincipal object wils to coiiimiinicatr to Frofeasor rSccchi, thr best opiriion I could form as to whethrr or not the shadow of the ball of Saturn thrnwn on the ring, pre- sented a convcx boundary towards the ball. 1 then described the recently seen dark shade at the inner surface of the bright ring, as a much niore positive and striking phenonienori, and enclosed a sketch in pen and ink of its then aspect.
