HURRICANE KATRINA TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

• The Ninth Ward: Tour the most devastated neighborhood in New Orleans and hear the harrowing tales of survival when the levees broke. The lower ninth ward was the hardest hit and many residents were displaced permanently.

• Mississippi River: Check out Lake Pontchartrain and the levees that are tasked with keeping the water at bay; learn why they famously failed on that fateful day back in 2005.

• Authentic Narration: If you want authenticity you got it; hear the terrifying events told by someone who was actually there.

ABOUT THIS NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA TOUR

Labeled as America's greatest natural catastrophe, Hurricane Katrina made landfall on August 25, 2005 in Florida. It brushed across Florida and gathered strength as it passed over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. By the time it made landfall in Southeast Louisiana it had weakened significantly, and everyone thought New Orleans had been spared. But this wasn’t the case. Failure of the levees sent water cascading into New Orleans, covering most of the city, and washing away everything in its path.

This tour will lead you through the events that led up to Hurricane Katrina, as well as how the government failed to understand the true threat that Lake Pontchartrain posed on this vibrant city. You'll be led through the events of Hurricane Katrina as you are guided along the Mississippi River and the French Quarter. Eyewitness accounts and visual evidence of the destruction bring this tour to life.

Not only will you gain a better understanding of the disaster that was Hurricane Katrina, but you'll truly understand the power of Mother Nature and her fury. While this tour touches on one of the most tragic moments in New Orleans history, it isn't all a sad tale. New Orleans has risen again, born out of the love the locals have for the city. You'll see the resilience and soul of the people of New Orleans on this eye-opening experience.

KATRINA'S WAKE

When the levees broke, and New Orleans filled with water, the hardest hit neighborhoods sat under over 10 feet of water. Major flooding was not caused by the hurricane itself, but rather by breeches in the levee system that kept New Orleans dry. The city had nearly 20 levee breaches, but four major breeches are blamed for much of the widespread flooding.

Note: Tour included in Male Network registration. Tickets are also available to male guest not registered. The cost is $30/person and available on-site.
