This guide is a practical reference for participants of IDDST-2019, Kyoto, Japan. It provides information on all

conference-related aspects of logistics, transportation, food, and accommodation.

1. Please note that the online program http://www.iddst.com/iddst2019/ScientificProgram.asp have been

updated. There are minor changes in session sequence numbers, and please kindly check your personal

information and speech time. If there are any mistakes or inconvenience for you, please contact the program

2. Please deliver your speech with PowerPoint, which should be in English version.

3. All speakers should arrive at least 15 minutes earlier before the session starts and copy your presentation to

the computer provided in the meeting room. Generally speaking, all of the speakers are requested to use our

4. For Session Chair attention Please: Please note the chair’s roles are required to introduce each speaker,

and ask them a series of prepared questions. They must also encourage participation from the audience,

and field questions from the floor. They are responsible for keeping the discussion within the allocated time

slot.

5. Regarding the place and time for breakfast, lunch and welcome banquet, please kindly check your meal

pass for detailed information.

6. Only delegates wearing their name badges will be admitted to the scientific and social activities. And the

name badges will be issued at the registration desk.

Getting To ICC Kyoto

Travel from Kansai International Airport (KIX) to Kyoto Station on the Express Haruka train in 75 minutes, or by

limousine bus in 1 hour and 45 minutes, or from Osaka (Itami) Airport in 55 minutes. Kyoto is within a 2.5 hour bullet

train ride from the Tokyo metropolitan area.

Take the Karasuma Subway Line from Kyoto Station to Kokusaikaikan Station in 20 minutes, or take a taxi in 30

minutes in normal traffic.

ICC is located 40 minutes from the Kyoto-Minami Interchange or the Kyoto-Higashi Interchange on the Meishin

Expressway in normal traffic. Drive north on Horikawa-dori or Karasuma-dori streets until you reach Kitayama-dori

street, then enter via Takaragaike-dori street.

ICC is located 25 minutes from central Kyoto during normal traffic.

From the closest station

● 5-minute walk from Kokusaikaikan Station on the Karasuma Subway Line.

Exit the ticket gate and walk through the underground passage to Exit 4-2.

The covered walkway from Exit 4-2 will guide you to our front entrance, keeping you dry on rainy days.

● 5-minute walk from the Kokusaikaikan-eki-mae bus stop on the Kyoto City Bus and Kyoto Bus lines.

Foreign attendees will need to apply for visa by themselves usually, so IDDST-2019 recommends applying for visas

as early as possible. Please check with your local Japanese consulate or embassy to find out the earliest possible

application date. Meanwhile, we strongly advise the foreign attendees to apply for the Tourist Visa instead of

Business Visa in view of the adjustments for visa application to Japan last year, which is more accessible. We

apologize for any inconvenience maybe caused to you.

P.S. The Hotel Reservation Confirmation may be necessary for the Tourist Visa application. Please let us know your

visa process and send back your air ticket when determined, and then we’ll arrange related conference details

According to the weather forecasting: the average temperature during the period of conference is 23-29℃.

The official currency is the Yen (円) or JPY. Japanese money cannot be exported. Travelers’ checks and major credit

cards are accepted (VISA, MASTERCARD) and foreign currency can be converted in airport, hotels, in stores and in

subsidiaries of the Bank of Japan. The working hour of most foreign exchange centre is: 09:30-16:00. You are

advised to exchange some Yen for your bus/taxi fares before your departure. The exchange rate between U.S. dollar

and Yen is approximately at 1: 110. Though major credit cards are accepted at big stores and ATMs, cash is still

more widely used.

Electricity

Japanese electrical plugs have two, non-polarized pins, as shown above. Voltage in Osaka is 110V 60Hz. If you will

need to use an adapter, please be sure to use an appropriate transformer as well.

Mobile Phone Network

Most mobile phone can be used in Japan, GSM-only phones do not work. You can buy a SIM cards or rental phones

at the airport, as well as book a WIFI EGG from your local travel agency and get it from Airport in Japan.

Working Language

The working language of this conference is English, therefore, simultaneous interpretation will not be provided.

Japan is in one time zone – Tokyo Time (GMT+ 9 hours).

B. Working Hours

Most Working hours are 09:00~17:00, Large stores are open at 10:00~20:00, and banks at 09:00~15:00. Working

week runs from Monday to Friday.

Insurance Policy

It is advised to have insurance to cover sickness and other possible traveling problems. For hospitalization in Japan,

you may have to pay first and then claim it back from your insurance company. The organizing committee will not

take the responsibility for any personal injuries sustained or for loss of, or damage to, property belonging to

conference participants or their accompanying persons, either during or as a result of the Conference.
