Schools have an important contribution in developing
sensitivity towards the environment. It is very
important to begin this process of developing a
positive attitude towards the environment right from
the beginning as soon as the students enter formal
school. The skills, habits, attitudes and values thus
inculcated stay throughout one’s life and becomes a
guiding force for generations to come. All this puts the
onus of taking care of the environment on the young
shoulders, who now feel strongly towards saving their
environment. This also helps them develop the sense
of belongingness towards their school and environment
and eventually to the planet Earth.

• SOLAR CELL PANELThe school produces its own electricity by harnessing solar energy. The
school installed 100 kiloWatts (kW) of solar power, which provides us
with nearly 50 percent of the energy requirements.
• RAIN WATER HARVESTING The school, which began harvesting rainwater in 2017, has retrofitted the
roof of the building to collect rainwater, which is then directed for
underground recharge.
• COMPOSTING IN SCHOOL Students collect biodegradable waste (tea leaves and vegetable peels)
from school canteen and collect manure produced in composter to
spread it in the school garden
• ENERGY SAVING MECHANISMSchool has put LEDs in place of normal tube lights, Quiet ceiling
fans, Buying less energy consuming devices, Push taps for which
closes on their own controlling wastage of water.
Regulation of educational space taking into consideration
environmental factors and contingencies in the face of
natural disasters and Specially abled students like ramp
and lift.
RAMP LIFT
PLANTATION The Herbal Garden and the Vegetable Garden are maintained by the
students, using compost prepared in the school.
Also the plants in the school lawns are labelled.

CLASSROOM DESIGN
Classroom are designed keeping in mind maximum use of daylight
instead of tubelights. They are very well ventilated and airy
ADOPTING OXYGEN EXUDING PLANTS in classroomsAfter studying pollution levels for a month, oxygen exuding plants were
adopted by each classroom for air quality improvement , humdification
and reduction in energy use. Plant Adoption Day was celebrated.
MAKING TERRARIUMS AND MINIATURE GARDENS.
In continuation with the above, the students also initiated learning about
oxygen exuding plants and making terrariums and miniature gardens.
Disposal off the e-waste responsibly by sending it to back
to dealers, manufacturers or dismantlers or giving it away
for use somewhere else.
Donating the old furniture to schools or orphanages.

• WATER PRESERVATION AND CONSERVATION
Students are made aware about the need to conserve water as water
is a precious resource. The senior students guide the younger ones
not to waste water, water left in their bottles are not put in the basin
but they are educated to use it to water the plants. Senior students
take session on depleting water levels and to use water judiciously
as every drop of water counts. In Geography classes, students are
taught about community-based water conservation techniques used
in medieval times like stepwells and Baolis.
JUDICIOUS USE OF ELECTRICITY –
Reminders are put in classes and labs to turn off the lights and
Electricity Managers are appointed in the class to monitor the same
ECO CLUB
Engages students in programs and activities to encourage them to be
more responsible towards environment. Some of the Eco club
initiatives are as follows-
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
The aim of the project is to collaborate witha partner school and perform a comparativestudy of the benefits and harmful effects oftechnology upon the environment withrespect to India, Bhutan and China amongfew other countries. Students will mutuallyexchange different ways in which theircountry uses Technology in the right way.
Technology Vs Environment: What is our Role?
THE CORE IDEA BEHIND THISPROJECT
In order to shape attitude of students towards the
environment during formative years, a number of activities
will be done. Students will themselves collect information
, conduct surveys, take part in Debate competition and
know how important Environment protection is. The
activities will create an understanding of the
consequences of human actions for the earth and its
resources and how other countries are dealing with it;
They will brainstorm, think of solutions and create a blog
to sensitize globally . The objective is to transform the
young minds into responsible citizens of the earth.

AUDIT OF SCHOOL’S LIGHT AND ENERGY USE
• PLANTATION DRIVES
CONSERVATION REMINDERS
are put in the in corridors to make students feel responsible for
actions they take or do not take to contribute to saving resources.
• DURABLE STATIONARIES
instead of plastic, metal pencil boxes or cloth pouches, steel lunch
boxes are recommended for use.
WATER BOTTLE CAMPAIGN
the students are encouraged to use steel water bottles instead of
plastic water bottles .
STUDENT TRAINING
Attending programmes that strengthen the need to care for the
environment such as Peer Moderator Programmes.
With an aim to create an eco campaign to save our environment, the
students were pushed to think about environmental concerns through
activities and discussion. The students were also part of plantation drive.
ENCOURAGING RECYCLING
The project given during holidays also intend to recycle many
things readily available rather than buying the new stuff to do
projects, such as using CDs, egg trays, plastic bottles, floppies etc
to make the best out of waste.
Use of refillable pens, covering books and notebooks with used
paper, preparing class bulletin boards using already used stuff are
also encouraged.
• SHARING OF RESOURCES
with each other. The old textbooks and uniforms are also given by the
senior students to their juniors. Even during school functions, the
resources are shared amongst different departments and the thought
that we should buy if we can afford is negated.
• SAVE PAPER SAVE TREE
study material to be shared in soft form is one of the major ways to
avoid wasting paper. Using both sides of a sheet of paper is
encouraged and followed strictly. Print only what is necessary.
• REDUCING LUNCH WASTE OR FOOD WASTAGE
Very young students are taught not to waste food and to finish
what they get. They are also taught to feed their food to the
birds or the animals if it falls on the floor.
• VERTICAL GARDEN
The students of the Eco club had converted various plastic
beverage bottles into a beautiful vertical garden which takes
less space and conserves water.
PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB BRINGING NATURE
BACK TO STANDS
The Photography Club students enjoy capturing the beauty of
blooming flowers in the school campus. The photos are framed
and given as mementos to the guests visiting the school.
WELCOME OF GUESTS in school - instead of giving a
bouquet of flowers, the guests are given planters
III. CAMPAIGNS OF THE SCHOOL
• NO PLASTIC
• CLEAN DRIVE
• CLEANLINESS PROJECT
• ANTI CRACKER CAMPAIGN
• ECO FRIENDLY DRY HOLI
• USE OF RECYCLABLE WASTE
• GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY
• SUSTAINABLE LIVING
• SHRAM DAAN
1. NO PLASTIC CAMPAIGN
Teaching to reduce-reuse-recycle is an important way to manage
waste and especially plastics, but children are taught now TO
REFUSE THE USE OF PLASTIC, which is definitely the first
step to conserve and preserve the environment.
Plastic is minimally used inside the school campus. Use of cloth
folders and bags are encouraged. To create awareness among
students many programmes are conducted such as debate on
“Plastic a boon or a bane”, poster making competition and
sensitization programmes.
Students have studied and have tried to find alternatives of
plastic. They also exhibited their work on PTM and Annual
exhibition
2. CLEAN DRIVE
In accordance with Swachch Bharat Abhiyaaan, Classroom clean
up days are celebrated to declutter and clean. Series of events were
conducted to celebrate a clean and green drive. Various activities
were conducted in the school like a street play on ‘Clean India’.
Reduce Your Trash, litter management programme are also
undertaken by the students to reduce and manage the waste.
3. CLEANLINESS PROJECT
Eco club students visited the nearby slum area to create awareness
about cleanliness and to sensitize children and their family
members not to litter in the public places.
4. ANTI- CRACKER CAMPAIGN Students delivered speeches, recited poems and performed nukkad
natak. They motivated their peers to celebrate Diwali in its true
spirit by lighting diyas, making rangoli, by showing PPT and the
best poster was also sent to the Department of Environment.
6. USE OF RECYCLABLE WASTE for all art and craft
activitiesThe students used their innovative skills and creativity to produce
the used materials in different ways.
5. ECO-FRIENDLY DRY HOLI CAMPAIGN
In keeping with the festivities, students were encouraged to
celebrate Holi, the eco-friendly way by avoiding the use of water.
Eco-friendly colours and dry Holi was campaigned to be the way
ahead.
7. GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY – 15TH OCTOBER
Children were made aware about better hygienic practices to adopt
healthy habits like washing hands before and after having a meal
8. Sustainable living is an important issue in current times. Due to
the impending dangers of climate change, its importance has been
increased significantly and that’s precisely the reason we have
incorporated it as a theme for our Expressions 2K19 – an annual
interschool event, so that no one is left behind and everyone
benefits from development efforts. We have brought individuals
and institutions together so as to achieve this shared vision of
prosperity for all.
9. SHRAM DAAN: CONTRIBUTING RESPONSIBILY
TO MAKE OUR ENVIROMENT CLEANER
The school “Shram Daan” as a practice for all students to know
that they can contribute responsibly to make there environment
clean. Students were encouraged to clean the school gardens of all
dry and fallen leaves. The output was dropped into compost pits for
creating natural manure. Students were taught and given the task of
de-potting the plants. They were also taught how to collect and
preserve seeds for the next season.
IV. SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES
• WORLD EARTH DAY
• WORLD HERITAGE DAY
• WORLD WILDLIFE DAY
• WORLD PEACE DAY
1. WORLD EARTH DAYThe Intra Class Activities of ‘Show and Tell’, ‘Poster Making’ and
‘Badge Making’ were organized for the students. The students
