Materials Required for Class:1. Textbook (Which will be on IPads and they will have classroom copies also)2. 5 subject notebook- they will need the entire notebook for this class only3. Scientific calculator4. Writing Utensils (Pencils, colored pencils, and colored pens)

Each student is to come prepared to class everyday with the materials required for class. No exceptions. We are preparing your children to become responsible young adults! This notebook will contain class notes, everything I write on the chalkboard, everything from powerpoints, to quizzes, homework assignments, and tests. This is our interactive classroom notebook!

Expectations:1. Arrive on time and in your assigned seat when the bell rings with your science notebook! More than 2 tardies within a quarter will result in detention.2. Come to class with a positive attitude ready to participate in class activities.3. Turn in all assigned work when it is due. Any missed activities are to be made up after school or by arrangement with the teacher.4. All work turned in must be legible and have your name and hour written at the top of all assignments.5. Be polite and respectful of all students, faculty, substitute teachers, and visitors.6. Do not interfere with anyone’s right to learn.7. Materials and equipment set up in the room or in the lab are to be left alone until instructed otherwise.8. Follow all rules and safety procedures. All students will be required to take and pass a safety test (100%). The safety test must be passed prior to the student participating in an activity. Any student that needs to retake the safety test will be able to at an arranged time. However, the first test is the score that will be entered in the gradebook.9. Cell phones and other electronic devices will not be allowed in class, unless we are using them for an assignment. When the student walks in my classroom there will be a place for your child to put his/her cell phone and IPad. 10. Observe and follow all guidelines within the student handbook.

Make-Up/Late Work:It is the responsibility of the student to obtain any assignments that he/she missed due to an absence. Students will have one day/ per absence to complete any missed work. It is the students’ responsibility to schedule any missed assignments/tests to be made up before or after school (for an unexcused absence). Also quizzes and tests must be taken prior to the absence unless arrangements have been made with me. Any missed work will be due at the beginning of the next class session, unless prior arrangements have been made. Assignments that are turned in 1 day late will receive a 75%, 2 days late a 50%. Assignments that are more than two days late can be made up after school during F.O.C.U.S. Any assignments turned in without a name on them will be considered a late grade, and will have to attend F.O.C.U.S.

Academic Dishonesty Policy:Students are expected to do their own work.Students who cheat on any assignment/test will be given a failing grade and parents will be notified.

Extra Credit:Students will be given a list of items that they may bring for extra credit per quarter.

Discipline:Corrective measures will be taken when needed according to the student handbook!

Concerning substitute teachers: it can be very difficult to find subs when there are discipline issues in the classroom. Therefore, if a student misbehaves when a substitute is present in my classroom, the student will receive an automatic detention.

With all that being said, I am excited to see your children grow in science this year. I expect the world out of your children, and will give them the knowledge they need to succeed in high school. It is my hope that with your support and with the implementation of theses guidelines and expectations that all students will be able to learn to their fullest potential.
