Position Title: Social Media and Communication Internship Purposes of Position: The Social Media and Communication Intern will use social media, specifically Twitter, and in person interactions to extend travelers’ stays through inspirational and accurate information, exceptional customer service in every medium, and a passion for the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region. Specific Duties: Manage Twitter program. This includes writing and scheduling tweets; following, monitoring and responding to relevant tweets on a daily basis Coordinate Twitter program with other social media programs and marketing strategy Research social media best practices and immerging platforms/ tools and how they apply to tourism marketing. Research, enter and approve events in online regional event calendar. Prepare and send out events calendar to bi-weekly mailing list and publications Coordinate with other staff to keep an active twitter account and accurate event calendar at all times Attend festivals and events to promote Travel Lane County and its members Assist visitors with trip planning, booking accommodations and recreational activities Retail sales and duties Light cleaning Work shifts at the Downtown or Springfield Adventure Centers and in the Mobile Adventure Center Other duties as assigned Position Requirements: Passion for and knowledge of the Eugene, Cascades & Coast’s (Lane County’s) soft adventure, culinary, and arts product Exceptional customer service Ability to work easily & professionally with a variety of people Loyalty to Travel Lane County; positive representation Clear written and oral communication Ability to handle fast paced customer service environment and multiple tasks at one time Use of a multi-line phone Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, internet) Accurate data entry Ability to operate a cash register Ability to lift 40 lbs from the floor and carry Ability to stand for duration of an 8 hr shift Ability and willingness to use standard cleaning supplies Willingness to work after hours events when necessary Ability to work weekends Ability to pass a background check TRAVEL LANE COUNTY 754 Olive St PO Box 10286 Eugene OR 97440 T | 541.484.5307 800.547.5445 F | 541.343.6335

Purposes of Position: The Social Media and Communication Intern will use social media, specifically Twitter, and in person interactions to extend travelers’ stays through inspirational and accurate information, exceptional customer service in every medium, and a passion for the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region.

This part time internship pays $9.50/hr, requires weekend work and reports to the VP of Tourism Marketing and the Adventure Center Manager.

We are looking for one intern for ~20 hrs per week or two interns for ~10 hrs per week. The internship requires a commitment through Spring Term 2013 and work during school breaks. We would like someone with a schedule that allows shifts after 1 p.m. through Fall term.

This position is open until filled. Interviews start November 8, 2012.
