healthcare environments

every week more than 75,000 patients receive care in a cDh designed hospital or medical facility. We design medical offices, assisted living residences, hospitals, and hospice environments. We are also front-runners in ambulatory design and facility planning. the buildings and the campuses we create are used to promote wellness, healing, hope, and an engaging patient experience. they are spacious, safe, highly sustainable, functional, flexible, and inspiring. One of the things we do best is to bring key individuals together to provide the right resources in order to move a client’s vision from dream to reality.

From the beginning, our firm has worked with leading healthcare organizations to design some of the most advance patient-care facilities in use today. We continue to stay in step with the many changes taking place within this industry. As the medical community adapts to the challenges and evolving changes, we are adapting, too. the work we have done with major hospital systems has prepared us to work with healthcare clients that have a broad range of requirements, needs, and goals.

Medical Office Environments

Medical office spaces designed by cDh are rich work environments that facilitate culture-changing collabora-tions. Many of our office settings are open area concepts where people communicate and problem-solve easily and efficiently. They are enhanced by nature light and finishes that take cues from the surrounding scenery, using residential inspired materials to add warmth. they also include engaging communal places—inside and out-side—where people can meet and take short respites.

over the years, cDh has created innovative design solutions that have helped the healthcare systems achieve many of their long-term initiatives. one has been to provide excellent patient care but another is to meet the growing desire to provide a better work environment for employees. We are committed to bringing new possibilities to the forefront of healthcare design while building spaces that employees enjoy and find inviting. This includes the design and creation of environments that encourage and motivate people to work efficiently.

hospitals

evidence based designed environments have the ability to enhance healing, health, and wellbeing. over the years, cDh has created innovative design solutions that have helped healthcare providers achieve many of their long-term initiatives. our master plan experience has shaped several greenfield sites into comprehensive medical campuses. We look for ways to eliminate “campus sprawl” keeping a hospital facility or campus organized and easy to access.

the design and construction of these vibrant hospital settings include a wide range of medical services from imaging to surgery, emergency care, labor and delivery, critical care, rehab, and dialysis.

our design teams provide creative solutions that deliver the most comprehensive and advanced patient care available. We focus on the details. Waiting rooms, lounges, and areas of respite for both staff and visitors to step away and refresh are an important aspect of providing the best in patient care.

over the years, our leading edge designs have been the catalyst for change, expansion, and growth within the industry. cDh was the firm that designed Georgia’s first completely digital medical center. one of our continuing goals is to incorporate sustainable and holistic design principles into each project for a more comprehensive healthcare experience.

our hospital facilities incorporate the powerful use of color, texture, and natural surfaces to promote the patient experience. Many of our facilities also have smaller footprints reducing the impact on our environment. they are constructed to be welcoming relaxing atmospheres.

Before we begin a project we sit down and listen to your team describe the needs and dreams you have for the future. there are no preconceived ideas of what your hospital facility or campus should look like. each new project represents an opportunity for us to explore a multitude of exciting possibilities.

We are committed to sustainable design strategies that demonstrate good stewardship both of your resources and of the natural environment. We recognize the importance of long-term investments in materials and methods that go into designing and building a high performance facility. A sustainable design philosophy is an integrated approach that impacts all phases of a building’s life cycle in a positive way. this includes the structure’s design, construction, operation, and later, if necessary, its decommissioning.

our architects, engineers, and designers work as an integrated team. they talk to one another about your project on every level. We believe that open lines of communication offer greater coordination of the initial design, drawings, and the specifications. As in other areas, we incorporate a holistic approach in our engineering designs.

our cDh team reviews each project as we coordinate the levels of systems and finishes. We will balance the scope, the budget, and the schedule of your project. our multidisciplinary approach to building design is shaped by the client’s needs and financial goals. We have a proven record of success in this area. We are committed to doing quality projects that are completed on time and on budget.

At cDH, we also understand the importance our designs have on the community you serve. this is especially true in the area of healthcare. One of the most important aspects of the work we do is to find new and creative ways to impact the lives of others in a positive way. We are committed to building solutions that are used to improve the quality of life for all who use our medical facilities. this is just one of the reasons we push the level of design beyond our client’s expectations.

interior design is essential to the design process, and our team is committed to bringing life and breath to your project. We design spaces that enhance the patient experience. Attractive surfaces choices, colors that blend well with the environment, and windows that allow the outside to come inside are hallmark traits of the work we do. Along the way, we provide unique detailing that completes the experience of a building. This includes lighting—where fixtures reflect the atmosphere and use of the room or help to promote a sense of hope and well-being.

At cDh, we also take a holistic approach to designing interior spaces. We push beyond aesthetics to create comfortable and healthy environments. We are intentional in our approach and in using sustainable design philosophies. When it is sensible, we use recycled and reclaimed materials, or materials derived from resources that are rapidly renewable.

We help our clients evaluate the current use of their site and space. our professionals conduct thorough interviews with your key leaders and stakeholders. Before making our recommenda-tions on how to optimize the use of available land and the medical facilities of your campus we consider the demographics, site related in-formation, future programming needs and other issues.

When it comes to addressing your present and future needs it is our keen examination and straightforward planning strategy that enables us to do an excellent job. Whether it is the construction of a new facility or re-purposing your existing facility, our goal is to solve the problems you are facing by bringing creative insight into the design process.

We have won awards for our innovative design, but that is not why we do what we do. it is our

commitment to our clients and our focus on their needs that makes us who we are. their goals

and dreams become ours and this single fact also is what makes CDH an exceptional design firm.
