Risk-sensitive choices
Risk sensitivity reveals Weber’s law in food evaluation (or
convexity of the utility function).
Most animals (including humans) show risk-aversion,
supporting the general applicability of the utility function.

Energy budget rule (エネルギー備蓄則): fitness advantage of risk-prone choices
Ecological rationale of the Weber’s law
Starvation is the largest penalty.
Experimental study in dark-eyed juncos (Junco hyemalis)
revealed:
When well fed >> risk-averse
When poorly fed >> risk-prone
Daily energy budget is critical.

Food caching behavior Caching food
Remembering where other conspecifics have cached, and pilfer them if possible
Do they re-cache the food in order avoid pilfering by others? Caching while being observed
or in private
Recovery at 3 hours later
What do they do next? (old sites / new sites)
「心の理論」”theory of mind”
Increase in re-caching occurred … If the subject was observed when it cached the food.

Understanding the self
Mirror induced behavior in magpies
Most animals show social behaviors (e.g., aggressive display) to the self image with a mark that is not directly visible.
Some animals show increased exploration of own body; chimpanzees, orangutans, pigmy chimpanzees. (Bonobo and gorillas still controversial)
