Dear Mr Ford, Thanks for organising the exciting Principals Afternoon Tea. Alex (1T) talked about every detail yesterday dinner. It was obvious he couldn't only describe it orally but also could not stop his pen. Alex's letter:- Yesterday the K-6 students went to the Principal Afternoon Tea. It was so exciting and scared because it was my first time. There were candies, chips, drinks, cakes and chocolates. It was so, so, so, so, yummy. Eric in 6G said this is his first and last time. Then everyone laughed, even Mr Ford. I think it is a wonderful education that lets students always love what happens at school. Thank you and all the teachers and staff effort for making our children achieve and better themselves. GRANNY SMITH VISIT Last Friday the Year 3 Choir went to Chester Street Hall to entertain the elderly from the Granny Smith Day Club. First, we walked to Chester Street Hall. When we got there we sang five songs from the Epping District Music Festival with Mrs Yoo and some Christmas songs with Miss Evans. After singing, we got to talk to the elderly people for a while. We met 2 ladies who went to our school. One of them was a student who came when she was 9 and now she is 86. There was also a woman who taught at this school from 1972-1986. We had a great time singing and meeting the elderly members of our community at Chester Street Hall.

CYBER SAFETY TALK Last Friday approximately 15 parents attended the cyber safety talk delivered by Senior Constable Chrystal. By all accounts it was an enlightening and informative session. The discussions were meaningful and parents took away practical ideas to support them in their children’s safe use of technology.

THANK YOU MORNING TEA Last week parent helpers received an invitation to the ‘Thank You Morning Tea’ to be held on Tuesday 8 December. As always we try to make sure we miss no one out but with over 100 invites sent out, invitations go missing, students forget to give them to parents or someone is accidently overlooked. Please if you have helped the school in any way mark in your diary Tuesday 8 December. The morning tea will commence in the school hall at 11 am.

REPORT ADJUSTMENT Reports will be sent home on Friday 11 December. There has been a minor adjustment

made to the Effort Rating section. There are still 3 levels of effort but the middle level has been changed from satisfactory to sound. We believe the rating sound reflects better the expected effort of a student in that particular grade.

CANTEEN LAST DAY This Wednesday 2 December will be the last day for our school canteen. There are only limited products available, as the canteen prepares for the summer break. Please see elsewhere in the newsletter for more details.

NEW ENROLMENTS 2016 With the end of the year fast approaching we are busy with organisation for 2016. If you know anyone who is intending to start their child in 2016 and have not contacted the school it is imperative that they do so. Please ask them to contact the school office before Friday 4 December, if possible.

PRESENTATION DAY Presentation Day is this week. The event will be held on Friday 4 December. A reminder, the event will be held in two parts. The K-2 Presentation Day will commence at 9:45am and conclude by 11:00am. There will be a 20 minutes break from 11:00am until 11:20am. The Year 3 - 6 Presentation Day will commence at 11:30am and conclude by 1:15pm. Lunch will immediately follow the Year 3 – 6 Presentation Day. If your child is to be recognised by receiving an award of any kind, you will have received an invitation in the mail. During this week we will be holding a rehearsal for all children being recognised on Presentation Day. Please let your child know if they will be receiving recognition on Presentation Day. All students should wear full school uniform including their black school shoes. All parents and friends are welcome to attend our Presentation Day.

EXTENDED LEAVE If you are planning to leave school early this year or return after school resumes next year please notify the school of your intention or not, of returning to Epping Public School in 2016. This can be done by completing the form found elsewhere in this newsletter. Where this leave extends past 5 school days you will also need to complete an application requesting extended leave. These are available from the office.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR 2016 The last day of school for students is Wednesday 16 December. December 17 and 18 are Staff Development Days.

STAGE 3 RIDING BIKES TO SCHOOL Following the Bike Safety Day for Stage 3 recently, we will be trialling students from stage 3 riding their bikes to school. In the next day or two Mr Sherley will send home to interested parents an information package, including a permission section for students to ride their bike to school. I emphasise again that this is a decision to be made by parents and you need to take into account the traffic on route to school, your child’s riding ability and any other factors that may impact on your child’s journey. Mr John Ford Principal
