Refund will be paid within 3 weeks after the show. If the horse or pony competes at the show or the appropriate certificates are not received within the specified time, the right to a refund is forfeited. Failure to comply with any of the rules will result in disqualification with no refund.

❖ PRIZE MONEY – RIBBONS ONLY

❖ CUP WINNERS Cup winners receive a Medallion but may come to Main Show Office for a Photograph with the Cup.

❖ CLEAN SPORT Kumeu A & H Society is an affiliated Show to the Royal Agricultural Society of NZ and as such:

a) The use of tranquillisers, stimulants or any drug capable of affecting the performance of horses or ponies is forbidden.

b) Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the show.

c) Testing of all animals is at the owner’s risk and will be carried out under RAS CS procedures. Any exhibitor not sure of the conditions should get in touch with the Chief Steward.

❖ HEIGHT CERTIFICATES All horses and ponies competing at A & P Shows must have a current annual RAS Height Certificate, and RAS Horse/Pony Identification card or an RAS Life Height Certificate. These must be carried on the day of competition and produced on request. You will not be able to compete without one. All prize winners will forfeit prize money if performance cards are not produced at the request of the stewards. A copy of the Height Certificate/Performance card must be forwarded with their entry. The exception applies to Sporthorse, Welsh and “Have a go’ classes, providing those horses are not entered on any other section classes.

❖ DEFINITIONS A Novice is a horse or pony that is yet to win six classes in any division within the competitions provided at any A & P Show.

Page 3: EQUESTRIAN SECTION RULES & REGULATIONS

All wins in Novice classes within each division count and must be recorded on the RAS Measuring and Performance card. Should a novice horse win an open conformation class, that win must also be recorded. Once a horse has achieved 6 wins in conformation or paced & mannered classes, this horse is not eligible to return to ‘Novice’ status should it change sections at the beginning of the new Show season. PLEASE NOTE: An adult can ride a Novice Pony in Novice Pony classes only. An adult rider cannot ride a novice pony in rider class.

❖ NOVICE CLASSES In the best interest of time, placings in the Novice classes can be taken from the circle and do not necessarily have to be given a work out. This decision is at the judges’ discretion.

❖ STALLIONS & COLTS Kumeu A & H Society will not accept Ridden Stallion entries at this show. All stallions and colts (with exception of Miniature horses & foals) must be shown in a bit. A steward will order any stallion/colt considered out of control or to be causing undue disquiet to other horses from the ring without recourse from the stallion/colt’s owner/exhibitor/competitor. It is compulsory for all stallions/colts, except foals, to wear two (2) official ‘S’ identification badges, one attached to either side of their bridle at all Shows/Events at all times. The handler must wear two (2) RAS official armbands (one each arm) when in the ring. ‘S’ badges and armbands can be purchased from RAS Head Office or ESNZ. Handlers of stallions/colts must wear RAS approved Hi Viz vest at Shows/Events when outside the showing ring. Vests can be purchased from RAS Head Office.

❖ EQUIPMENT Whips Whips in ridden classes may not exceed 76cm in length. Competitors in led classes may carry dressage style whip. For a First Ridden Rider, a cane or whip no exceeding 68cm, including flap 2cm wide by 4cm long, may be carried. Helmets All helmets MUST be Red Tagged. All riders must wear protective headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Refer rule GR 4 clauses c) & d) – RAS Rulebook / check www.ras.org.nz – equestrian. Adults riding in a safety helmet will not be subject to penalty.

❖ SUBSTITUTE JUDGE The Kumeu A & H Society reserves the right to substitute a judge.

❖ SPORTSMANSHIP The purpose of our show is to provide our community & visiting competitors the opportunity to have an enjoyable day of fun & competition, therefore any person or persons who verbally or otherwise abuses fellow competitors, stewards, judges or show officials may be asked, at the discretion of the show committee, to leave the showgrounds. This show supports the RAS ‘Yellow Card’ system, which will operate in the Equestrian Section of all RAS affiliated Shows and will be offered for any inappropriate behaviour toward Show Official, Judges, Fellow Competitors or any other third party connected with the Show bringing the equestrian discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious nature to the above in accordance with the Conduct of Members, Owners, Lessees, Competitors and/or Exhibitors as provided in the RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges Rulebook and rule 13 of the RAS Constitution. Implementation of the ‘Yellow Card’ will be in accordance of the RAS Rules that accompanied this card, and full working of the ‘Yellow Card’ system is available to view on the RAS website.

Pleasure Horse Ring 4 – starting approx. at 9:30am

Pleasure Horse means those animals who do not fit the mould of a Show Horse. We welcome any breed and colour. They should be an uncomplicated and genuine pleasure to ride. Whilst they do not possess the show quality conformation of a show horse, they should in their own way be a delight to ride, with impeccable manners. A “pleasure mount” is NOT an inexperienced mount with show quality conformation who is destined for the open show ring.

HOY Qualifier Conditions:

• From 1 August, for a horse to meet the annual title show qualification requirements they must be registered with NZEPS.

• Horses must never have been placed first in an open show ring class including working hunter. However, members may apply for dispensation to NZEPS.
