A. [SF] Escape ropes are in the flight compartment to provide means of escape through flight compartment windows. A descent device (inertia reels) is installed in the supernumerary compartment. The descent devices are considered the primary means of escape over the ropes.

25-10-001. General

A. Equipment/furnishings the flight compartment includes seats, crew accommodations, and ceiling, wall, and floor coverings.

2. Component Details

A. Flight Compartment Seats (AMM 25-11-00/001)

(1) Seats are in the flight compartment for the flight crew and observers.

B. Flight Compartment Accommodations

(1) Crew accommodations in the flight compartment include ash trays, sun visors, cup holders, spare light bulb holder, and eye position indicator. Stowage for suitcases, flight kits, hats and coats is provided.

C. Ceiling Lining and Insulation (AMM 25-14-01/401)

(1) The ceiling lining provides a decorative finish to the flight compartment while keeping wires and insulation out of the way of the flight crew. The ceiling insulation provides a noise and heat barrier to the outside of the flight compartment.

D. Sidewall Lining and Insulation (AMM 25-15-01/401 and AMM 25-15-02/401)

(1) The sidewall lining and insulation is similar to the ceiling lining and insulation.

E. [SF] Supernumerary Compartment

(1) [SF] The supernumerary compartment equipment/furnishings includes items for providing comfort and convenience for the supernumerary occupants. The supernumerary compartment also provides equipment for ensuring safety for the crew, observers, and supernumerary occupants in an emergency (Figure 1).

(2) [SF] A 9G rigid barrier partition is installed to separate the supernumerary compartment and the main deck cargo compartment.

(3) [SF] The equipment and furnishings include, removable lowered ceiling panels, PSU, a three-seat supernumerary unit, safety equipment, and floor coverings.

FLIGHT COMPARTMENT SEATS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

25-11-001. General

A. [SF] There are seats for the captain, first officer, one observer and three supernumeraries. All seats have lap belts and shoulder harnesses. Seats are manually adjustable vertically and horizontally. Seat backs recline, seat bottoms tilt, and armrests also adjust manually.


A. Captain and First Officer Seats (Figure 1)

(1) The captain and first officer seats mount on curved tracks to permit forward and aft adjustment. The aft ends of the seat tracks are curved so that seats move outboard during the last inches of aft travel to ease ingress/egress. Seats are vertically adjustable. Backrests recline forward and aft. Seat bottoms and armrests are adjustable. Armrests pivot up to be parallel to the backrest, and slide to a stowed position, allowing additional clearance for ingress/egress. Lumbar support adjustment knobs on each side of the backrest adjust the lumbar support vertically and forward/aft. An interlock system prevents the first officer's seat from colliding with the right side console.

(2) The recline, horizontal and thigh tilt control handles are below the seat bottom, on the inboard side. Handles pull up to adjust seat. The vertical adjust handle is below the seat on the outboard side. Rotate handle to adjust. Handles are labeled; “T” for thigh adjustment (seat bottom tilt), “H” for horizontal adjustment, “R” for recline adjustment, and “V” for vertical adjustment. Armrest adjustment thumbscrew is on the armrest. Seats have sheepskin covering for comfort, air circulation, and support. Seat adjustment allows for variations in size of captain and first officer. Restraints in the seats are crotch straps, lap belts, and inertia shoulder harness. The seat back contains a flotation device.

B. Observer Seats (Figure 1)

(1) [SF] The first observer’s seat attaches to the floor aft and outboard of the captain’s seat. The seat can be adjusted vertically and can be adjusted forward or aft. Backrest reclines forward and aft. Armrests are adjustable.

(3) [SF] The three supernumerary seats are attached to the rear bulkhead. These seats are not adjustable. Lap belts and shoulder harness (no inertia reel) are for restraint. A control handle for seat stowage (folding seat bottom up against bulkhead) is on outboard side of seat, and is labeled RELEASE.

[SF] FLIGHT COMPARTMENT GALLEY - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

25-31-001. General

A. [SF] The crew galley is located aft of the flight compartment entry door (Figures 1 and 2).

B. [SF] The galley is mounted on the aft left hand side of the 9G rigid barrier.

C. [SF] The galley and stowage contains a hot cup for heating water, a supply of water bottles, a TIA WAVEJET microwave oven, waste receptacle and a main cargo door control panel. A circuit breaker for the hot cup and a circuit breaker for the oven/hot is located on P6 panel in the flight deck. A 3-phase galley feeder circuit breaker is located on the left miscellaneous equipment panel (P-36, Figure 2).

D. [SF] The galley is for storing and preparing food and beverages. Waste is stored in the waste compartment.

E. [SF] The flight compartment crew galley consists of an oven/hot cup module, cup dispenser, paper towel holder and work table.

F. [SF] The galley is constructed primarily of aluminum extrusions and N-Lite sandwich panels.

G. [SF] The oven is constructed primarily of aluminum extrusions and skins. The inner liner is separated from the outer shell structure by insulation.

(1) [SF] An amber light will glow when the timer is in the “ON” position to indicate that power is applied to the oven or hot cup.

(2) [SF] A red light located on the bezel of the temperature control will glow at all times when the elements are heating.

(3) [SF] The oven has an operating range from a holding temperature of 65°C (150°F), to a high temperature setting of 204°C (400°F).

(4) [SF] A blower wheel attached to a motor is centered in the back of the cavity to circulate the hot air and provide an even distribution of heat throughout the oven cavity.

2. [SF] Galley Oven Operation

A. [SF] Oven Operation

NOTE: [SF] Before operating galley, check surfaces for dirt or debris and clean if necessary.

WARNING: [SF] DO NOT TOUCH THE OVEN OR HOT CUP IF THE GALLEY HAS RECENTLY BEEN IN SERVICE BECAUSE IT WILL BE HOT. HOT COMPONENTS CAN BURN YOU.

NOTE: [SF] The timer is calibrated in minutes from 1 to 60. For operating periods less than 10 minutes, the timer knob must be rotated past 10, then returned to the required setting.

(d) [SF] The timer bell will ring at the completion of the time period.

(e) [SF] The time cycle can be interrupted at any time by rotating the timer counterclockwise until the bell rings.

(f) [SF] The timer can be reset to a new time period at any time.

(2) [SF] High temperature operation 65°C (above 150°F).

(a) [SF] Rotate temperature control knob to the desired setting.

(b) [SF] Set timer to the desired setting (period of time that oven is to operate).

B. [SF] Hot Cup Operation

(1) [SF] The hot cup must be pushed toward the back of the compartment to connect to electrical power.

(2) [SF] Set timer to desired setting (period of time hot cup is to operate).

NOTE: [SF] For operating periods less than 10 minutes, the timer knob must be rotated past 10, then returned to the required setting.

(3) [SF] The timer bell will ring at the completion of the time period.

(4) [SF] The time cycle can be interrupted at any time by rotating the timer counterclockwise until the bell rings.

A. General

(1) [SF] This procedure provides operational test instructions for galley equipment (oven/hot cup).

B. [SF] Preparation

S 862-013(2) [SF] Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close the GALLEY FEEDER circuit

breaker on the left miscellaneous equipment panel, P36.

S 862-013(3) [SF] Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close the HOT CUP + OVEN circuit

breaker on the main power distribution panel, P6-4.

C. [SF] Procedure

S 725-002(1) [SF] To test the oven/hot cup unit, do the following procedures.

S 712-014(2) Fill the hot cup with water and insert it into the hot cup bracket.

(a) [SF] Push the cup into the cup recess. Ensure the restraining bar is lowered, turn the secondary latch.

(b) [SF] Set the power ON/OFF switch/indicator to ON position. The indicator will illuminate green.

(c) [SF] Set the HOT CUP TIMER to the timer 5 minutes and the indicator light will illuminate.

(d) [SF] After the set time, the light extinguishes and the cup containing the hot liquid can be removed.

(e) [SF] If the light does not illuminate, verify the hot cup is pushed completely to the back of the unit.

WARNING: [SF] DO NOT REMOVE CUP WITH POWER ON. POWER MUST BE OFF BEFORE CUP REMOVAL. TAKE CARE, HOT LIQUID CAN SCALD.

(f) [SF] Make sure the Hot Cup goes off after time heating.

S 725-002(3) [SF] To test the oven unit, do the following procedures.

(a) [SF] Open oven door. Place trays of chilled cup water in oven on the tray supports.

(b) [SF] Close the door and secure latch.

(c) [SF] Press power switch ON. Set OVEN TEMPERATURE CONTROL to the 200°F heat and the OVEN TIMER to 5 minutes.

(d) [SF] The amber CYCLE indicator lights and the heating operation starts.

WARNING: [SF] THE TRAYS AND OVEN INTERIOR WILL BE HOT, PROTECT YOUR HANDS.

(e) [SF] When the heating time has finished, open the oven door and remove the trays of hot cups of water.

(f) [SF] Set the power ON/OFF switch/indicator to OFF position. The indicator will extinguish.

D. [SF] Put the Airplane Back to it’s Usual Condition

[SF] FLIGHT COMPARTMENT LAVATORY - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

25-40-001. General

A. [SF] One lavatory is located in the aft right hand side of the flight compartment at STA 270 (Figure 1).

B. The lavatory attaches to the airplane structure by an overhead tie-rod. Access to floor tiedown bolts is from outside the lavatory module; access to overhead tie-rods is through ceiling panels.

C. Lavatory walls, ceilings, cabinets, and doors are made of Kevlar Nomex sandwich panels, with decorative Tedlar fabric covering. The Tedlar fabric covering is washable and scratch-resistant.

D. [SF] The lavatory includes a flushing, external servicing toilet unit, a potable water tank with integral faucet, a sink with overboard drain and a waste compartment, and a toilet, a mirror, a lavatory hi-folding door, and a supernumerary service unit are in the lavatory module. The modular construction facilitates removal/installation. The floor is a water-tight part of the module to help prevent corrosion.

E. [SF] Vacuum waste disposal lines connect to the lavatory under the module. Access to vacuum waste lines is through an access panel under the toilet shroud. Water and drain lines connect inside the sink cabinet. Access to water and drain line connections is through a panel in the cabinet. Air vent lines and conditioned air lines connect above the module ceiling. Access to air lines is through ceiling panels. Electrical connections are above the module ceiling, above the mirror lights.

2. Lavatory

A. The lavatory has a single panel hinged door. The door latches closed when the lavatory is unoccupied. The lock mechanism locks the door and shows OCCUPIED sign when door is locked.

B. Water spills, up to 2.5 gallons, are contained in the floor tray.

3. [SF] Operation

A. [SF] Folding Door Assembly

(1) [SF] You can lock the folding door assembly by a latch in the lavatory.

(2) [SF] When the folding door is closed and locked, a microswitch operates the TOILET OCCUPIED sign.

B. [SF] Fire Extinguisher

(1) [SF] If there is a fire, the fire extinguishers discharges into the waste container compartment.

(2) [SF] The fire extinguishers operate automatically at an environmental temperature of 158°F (70°C).

FLIGHT COMPARTMENT LAVATORY - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

25-41-011. General

A. [SF] This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is to remove the flight compartment lavatory. The second task is to install the flight compartment lavatory.

B. [SF] The flight compartment lavatory is made up of three major and separate pieces, the base assembly, the upper shroud assembly, and the sink cabinet (Fig. 401).

C. [SF] The three major pieces are necessary to permit the removal from the airplane and the installation into the airplane of the lavatory through the crew entry door.

deck before putting the lavatory into position, as follows:

(b) [SF] Turn the lavatory base with housing 3 attached to normal installation position.

(g) [SF] Connect the grounding strap from the lavatory to the airplane.

(h) [SF] Connect the electrical connection from the pump in the lavatory to the airplane.

CARGO COMPARTMENTS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

25-50-001. General

A. These are the cargo compartments:

(1) Forward lower lobe cargo compartment

(2) Aft lower lobe cargo compartment

(3) Bulk cargo compartment

(4) [SF] Main deck cargo compartment

B. The aft lower lobe cargo compartment and the bulk cargo compartment are separated by a removable divider net.

C. The bulk cargo compartment has no conveying equipment. Bulk cargo is loaded and unloaded manually, and is restrained by cargo nets.

2. Description

A. Forward and Aft Cargo Compartments (Figure 1)

(1) The forward and aft cargo compartment doors are on the right side of the airplane.

(2) The forward and aft cargo compartments can hold LD-2, LD-3, LD-4 and LD-8 containers.

(3) 767-300 AIRPLANES;Refer to the data that follows:

(a) The forward cargo compartment has eight bays and the aft cargo compartment has seven bays.

(b) The forward cargo compartment has a maximum capacity of sixteen LD-2 containers and the aft cargo compartment has a maximum capacity of fourteen LD-2 containers.

(c) AIRPLANES WITH A LARGE FORWARD CARGO DOOR;The forward cargo compartment can hold pallets. You can load four 125- by 88-inch or four 125- by 96-inch pallets into the forward cargo compartment.

(d) The aft cargo compartment cannot hold pallets because of the limited size of the aft cargo door.

(4) The aft cargo compartment is similar to the forward cargo compartment except that the aft end stops are retractable. This will let you load cargo into the bulk cargo compartment through the aft cargo compartment door.

B. Bulk Cargo Compartment (Figure 1)

(1) The bulk cargo compartment accommodates items of shapes and sizes that are not suitable for containers. Bulk cargo is secured to the compartment floor by nets. A divider separates the bulk compartment from the aft containerized compartment.

(2) Bulk cargo is normally loaded through an inward opening door (bulk cargo door) on the left side of the airplane. Large or odd shaped items can be loaded into the bulk compartment through the aft cargo compartment. You can use self-mobile belt conveyors to move cargo to and from the bulk compartment doorway.

C. [SF] Main Deck Cargo Compartment (Figures 1 and 2)

(1) [SF] The main deck cargo compartment electrically operated door control panel is on the left side of the airplane within the galley.

(2) [SF] The main deck cargo compartment can hold a variety of ULDs.

(3) [SF] All ULDs are loaded manually in the main deck cargo compartment.

(4) [SF] 9G rigid barrier (STA 279 and 360) is installed to separate the supernumerary compartment and the main deck cargo compartment and is made of AMS sheet and is held in place by fasteners.

(5) [SF] Blowout panels are located on the 9G rigid barrier and aft partition STA 1602.

(6) [SF] The intrim envelope of main deck cargo compartment includes sidewalls lining panels, dado panels, ceiling panels and floor panels.

(7) [SF] On the main deck floor there is an access panel for maintenance purpose. For this purpose an auxiliary ladder is attached to the main deck AFT partition,at STA 1602.

F. Procedure - Clean the Cargo Compartment

S 167-016(1) Use a vacuum cleaner to remove loose unwanted materials.

S 117-017WARNING: DO NOT GET THESE SOLVENTS IN YOUR MOUTH OR EYES, OR ON

YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES. PUT ON PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLES AND GLOVES. KEEP THESE SOLVENTS AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME AND HEAT. THESE SOLVENTS CAN BE POISONOUS OR FLAMMABLE WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE SOLVENTS THAT ARE NOT LISTED IN THE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS LIST. IF YOU USE OTHER SOLVENTS, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT COULD OCCUR.

(2) Apply the Alkaline Emulsion solvent with the airless pump. Let the solvent soak for five minutes, but do not let it dry.

S 167-014(3) Remove all the unwanted material that the solvent loosened with the vacuum

cleaner.

S 167-013(4) Apply more solvent and use the vacuum cleaner until the surfaces are clean.

S 177-012(5) Flush the area with clean water. Use pressure to apply the water.

S 757-010(7) Do a pH check of the water from the areas that have caught and held the water. Do

this pH check in more than one area.

25-52-101. General

A. This procedure contains these tasks for the repair of the fiberglass cargo liners:

(1) Repair of loose or damaged tape.

(2) Permanent repairs for the flat or slightly curved liners.

(3) [SF] Temporary repairs to cargo liners

(4) Repairs for the molded panels, shrouds, or panels with complex curves.

B. The cargo linings are on the ceilings, sidewalls, and bulkheads in each cargo compartment. The two types of cargo linings are the rigid cargo linings and flexible cargo linings.

(1) The rigid cargo linings are thin sheets of glass fabric laminations.

(a) They have fire-resistant and high strength properties to prevent damage to the structure behind the linings.

(b) Some of the rigid cargo linings have a thick honeycomb core bonded between the sheets of the glass fabric laminations.

(c) The procedure that follows is for the rigid cargo linings which DO NOT have a honeycomb core.

NOTE: Refer to AMM 25-00-00/801, Equipment/Furnishings, to repair the rigid cargo linings which do have a honeycomb core.

(2) The flexible cargo linings are thin sheets of glass fabric embedded within (or coated with) a sheet of neoprene (synthetic rubber).

NOTE: Refer to AMM 25-52-11/801, Neoprene - Coated Panels, to repair the flexible cargo linings.

C. There are three permanent repair alternatives for flat or slightly curved liners in the class C cargo compartments.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the liners from the airplane for these permanent repairs.

(1) The use of screws with a bonded fiberglass patch.

NOTE: It is necessary to make sure that underlying structure is not contacted by screws when using this repair method.

(2) The Thermion Repair System which uses a bonded patch.

(3) The Akro Fireguard System which uses a bonded patch.

G. Procedure - The Thermion Repair System

S 348-053(1) Get the correct Thermion patch kit for the shape of the damage.

NOTE: The patch should make a minimum of a 2-inch overlap on the area that is not damaged. For example, the patch dimension that is necessary for a 1.5-inch diameter hole would be 5.5-inch diameter.

S 128-052(2) Rub the back of the patch with abrasive paper to remove the gloss being careful not

to rub the impregnated scrim area.

S 128-054(3) Use the abrasive paper to remove all signs of the Tedlar on the area of the liner to

be contacted by the patch.

NOTE: Tedlar is a protective white layer that is on the liner during the manufacture process.


S 348-056(5) Apply epoxy to the back of the patch and to the liner.

S 348-057(6) Put the patch over the center of the damaged area.

S 348-058(7) Apply pressure to the patch until the excess adhesive comes out from the edges.

S 348-059(8) Put the tape around the edges of the patch to hold the patch while the adhesive

dries for approximately 30 minutes.

A. General

S 348-026(5) Install the new metal end stop on the chain side. Tightly clinch the prongs of the

stop.

S 348-027(6) Install the molded zipper seal cap:

(a) Rub the cap area on the panel with the steel wool.

(b) Clean the area with a cloth that is moist with a solvent.

(c) Apply two layers of the adhesive to the cap area. Let the first layer dry before you apply the second layer.

(d) Rub the area where the molded zipper seal cap will be, and treat as specified in steps (6)(b) and (6)(d).

(e) Let the adhesive become tacky.

(f) Put the end seal cap in its position on the end of the zipper on the lip side. This will seal-off the end of the zipper.

(g) Stitch the area and let it set or air-cure for 24 hours.

F. Procedure - Zipper and Zipper Panel - Temporary Repairs

NOTE: You must have sufficient fire protection between the forward cargo compartment and the main electrical/electronic center. It is necessary, as an airworthiness-requirement, to keep the zippered panels sufficiently sealed at all times. If you find a defective panel during a transit stop, you must do temporary repairs to keep the necessary seal for fire protection. Also, you must write an entry in the airplane log book. This will help you make sure the necessary repairs are completed when the airplane is at a location that can do the repairs. Refer to 25-52-00/601 for permitted damage before you do temporary repairs. If the lining has too much damage, replace the lining (25-52-01/401). For linings that have too much damage, you can have temporary repairs only until the airplane gets to a location that can do the permanent repairs. For linings that did not have too much damage, you can have the temporary repairs for the first 1000 flight-hours or 6 months.

S 348-028(1) Apply the white 2-inch fiberglass tape to the aft side of the panel. The tape must

pull and hold the zipper joint together and be a cover for the split.

S 348-029(2) Use one layer of the tape to close the split, and with an equal width of the tape on

the two sides of the split.

[SF] MAIN DECK CARGO COMPARTMENT LINING - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

25-59-001. General

A. The main deck cargo compartment is equipped with several cargo lining panels installed along the sidewalls, ceilings and aft pressure bulkhead to protect the structure, insulation blankets, and any equipment installed behind the panels (Figure 1).

B. The main deck is also equipped with dado panels installed below the sidewall panels.

C. Insulation blankets are installed between and over structural members to provide thermal protection and noise attenuation for the cargo compartment interior. They also stop inner skin surface condensation moisture from leaking into the compartment.

D. The insulation blankets overlap each other to control moisture drainage. Moisture drains to the lower section of the fuselage in the lower cargo compartment.

2. Main Deck Cargo Dado Panels

A. The dado panels are below the sidewall panels on both the left and right sides of the main deck cargo compartment. The dado panels are connected to the sidewall panels with fasteners (Figure 1).

3. Main Deck Cargo Sidewall Panels

A. The main deck cargo sidewall panel consists of a single sidewall panel.

4. Main Deck Cargo Ceiling Panels

A. The aft bulkhead lining panels are installed between the main deck cargo compartment and the aft pressure bulkhead.

25-61-001. General

A. The escape ropes are installed in compartments above the No. 2 windows in the flight compartment.

B. [SF] The descent devices are located across from the crew entry door, on the 9G rigid barrier at the ceiling.


A. Flight Compartment Escape Ropes (Figure 1)

(1) Flight compartment escape ropes are installed behind a panel above the No. 2 windows, with one end permanently attached to structure. In use, the rope deploys out the No. 2 window and crew members can lower themselves to the ground.

C. [SF] Descent Devices (Figure 3)

(1) [SF] The devices are used for ground emergencies to enable personnel to descend quickly from the flight crew entry door L1 to the ground level. The devices are installed on the 9G rigid barrier, at ceiling height, across from the flight crew entry door L1 in a storage container positioned for ready use.

(2) [SF] A storage container retains each device in proper position ready for instant use. The thin metal tape, which is the actual descent line contained within each device is connected to a length of 1/8-inch airplane cable. When the devices are installed, the outer ends of these cables are permanently attached to the airplane structure.

(3) [SF] The Emergency Descent Devices consist essentially of a housing which contains the descent line and a centrifugal brake system with a spring-loaded handle stowed between the ends of the two legs extending from the housing. The descent line is stainless steel tape with braking strength in excess of 750 pounds.

(4) [SF] This tape is capable of maintaining its high strength during as much as 8-second exposure to 2,000°F flame. All other components of the device are equally fireproof except the synthetic rubber seals used to keep moisture from entering the brake compartment.

TASK 25-61-03-422-0103. [SF] Descent Device Rewinding

A. [SF] Procedure

S 412-011WARNING: [SF] TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONNEL, THE TAPE SHALL BE

FREE OF GREASE, OIL, OR DIRT. DO NOT TOUCH THE TAPE SURFACE WITH FINGERS. CLEAN TAPE WITH SOLVENT AND CLOTH.

(1) [SF] Rewinding the descent line: (Figure 201)

NOTE: [SF] It is best to release the cable loop from the airplane attachment before beginning rewind, so that the tape can relieve itself of any twists which may have developed after use. Inspect tape for sharp bends and nicks.

(a) [SF] Install a 3/16-inch hex wrench in the rewind-screw socket.

(b) [SF] Rotate the wrench in the direction indicated by the arrow on the surrounding label (clockwise when facing the label).

(c) [SF] Rewind until the tapered connector which joins the descent-line tape to the airplane cable enters the descent device housing and is just out of sight below the slot from which the descent line emerges.

NOTE: [SF] Stop exerting rewind force as soon as the connector is completely within the housing.

(d) [SF] Restow and reseal the cable grommet using tamper proof sealant.

(e) [SF] Perform the descent device installation task.

S 412-011(1) [SF] Do these steps to remove the descent device (Figure 401).

(a) [SF] Open the access cover on descent device storage container.

(b) [SF] Remove the nut and washer from the bolt going through all the descent devices.

(c) [SF] Remove the bolt from the descent devices and save the spacers which are within the descent devices.

NOTE: The fixed attach point for the descent devices is this bolt. To use the descent device, the bolt must be in place.

(d) [SF] Remove the descent device from storage container.

B. [SF] Procedure

S 412-019(1) Do these steps to install the descent device (Figure 401).

(a) [SF] Open the door to the descent device container.

(b) [SF] Insert the descent device upward into the container until you feel the spring detent engage.

NOTE: [SF] Ensure that the straps are threaded correctly through the clips of the safety harness prior to installation of the descent device.

(c) [SF] Thread the bolt and spacer through the loop on the descent device cable.

(d) [SF] Use washers as required between spacers and the container to avoid distorting the container when you tighten the nut.

(e) [SF] Tight the nut to 180 to 250 inch-pounds.

(f) [SF] Insert the cable into the descent device to the dimension shown on the instructions on the descent device decal.

(g) [SF] Apply tamper proof sealant between the device and the stowage container.

(h) [SF] Close the door of the descent device container.

[SF] MAIN DECK CARGO COMPARTMENT WARNING SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

25-63-011. [SF] General

A. [SF] Along the main deck cargo compartment, there are warning horns and flashing lights. The warning horns system consists of 2 horns, located at STA 654 and STA 1280.

B. [SF] A Main Deck Cargo Warning System is installed in the main deck cargo compartment. The system flashes the cargo area lights for several seconds to alert occupants of the main cargo compartment to return to the flight deck.

C. [SF] The system is activated by the MN DK ALERT selector on the pilot’s overhead panel.

D. [SF] When the selector is in AUTO position the system activates 20 seconds cycle of flashing main deck lights, lavatory dome lights, entry lights and aural horn when cabin altitude exceeds 10,000 feet.

E. [SF] The flashing lights system consists of every second light along the compartment.
