Equipment for Engineering Education & Research SOLTEQ ® FLOW CHANNEL AND FLUME APPARATUS MODEL: FM 27 T HIS Flow Channel and Flume Apparatus (Model: FM 27) has been designed for students to study the principles of fluid mechanics pertaining to engineering structures in open channel flow. The unit comes with an open channel made of transparent working section mounted on a strong framework. The unit is supplied with a 2.5 m long flume which can be tilted using a calibrated screwjack. The unit can also be supplied with an optional 5.0 m and 10.0 m long flume. EXPERIMENTAL CAPABILITIES Measurements of water level by hook and point gauges Measurement of flow rate using a Pitot-static tube Force-momentum and steady flow energy equations. Relationship between water level above the crest of a weir and flow rate over the weir The unit is fitted with pressure tappings and fixing points as well as longitudinal scale. The scale is positioned at the top of the channel so that the depth gauges and pitot-static tubes can be positioned along the channel length. The unit is supplied with a hydraulics bench for the water supply incorporating a smooth and uniform flow mechanism. The water flow rates can be measured either by using the volumetric tank or by flow meter.

THIS Flow Channel and Flume Apparatus (Model: FM 27) has been designed for students to study the
