SCIENTISTS!!!!
PVES Science Fair
The 4th grade Science Fair projects will be displayed during
our Achievement Fair on March 28th-29th. Mrs. Murray will be working with the students once per week during their recess to
help guide them in the process of carrying out a science experiment. The first meeting will be Wednesday, February 15th in the LMC at 1:30 PM. If you would like your child to
participate, please complete the form below and give it to your teacher by Monday, February 13, 2012.

The Putnam Valley Elementary School wil l hold an excit ing event called Family Math Night. Our PVHS Math Honor Society students (Mu Alpha Theta) wil l faci l i tate the act ivi t ies . Students, parents, s ibl ings, and other relatives are invited to attend a fun-f i l led evening of mathematical pleasure. We encourage you to continue to support your student 's mathematical growth through your partic ipation in Family Math Night. There wil l be a variety of resources available and many hands on activi t ies that you can explore with your children. Come and see how we use technology to make math fun! There wil l be games, puzzles, an est imation raff le, and so much more! Activities will be set up in the New Gym and the Cafeteria, as well as the hallway outside the cafeteria. Be sure to check out the books and games on display.
*Please note that this is not a drop-off event.

PAJAMA DAY

On Friday, February 17th, all students, teachers and staff are invited to come to school dressed in their pajamas as we mark the conclusion of PARP and unwind before Winter
Break.
All children are encouraged to participate in our Book Swap by bringing a gently used book to exchange with another student. This is a wonderful and fun way to obtain new
reading material.

HEAD LICE
The very mention of the words can set heads itching!
This meeting will be presented by Anna Albano-Krosche, who is a professional lice technician and is known as the
Lice Lady of Westchester, as seen in Westchester Magazine.
Discussion will include symptoms of head lice, ways in
which to prevent the contraction of it, the implementation of a lice-ridding regimen for head lice and nit removal,
effective products to eradicate head lice and ways to prevent re-infestation in your home.

This camp is led by former CEE staff member, Michael Clough , who has a B.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in biology. Mike has worked with some of the Northeast’s premier conservation and
environmental education groups and has extensive live animal experience including; wolves, birds of prey, frogs and pythons. He has presented over 6,000 educational programs to families, libraries, fairgoers, preschoolers
and college audiences covering a variety of topics from native insects to global climate change. Currently Mike is the Assistant Director of the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum.
Winter Wildlife Week February 20-24
If you love wildlife, then this is the place to be over winter break! Spend four fun‐filled days exploring and learning about some of the wildlife native to
southeastern New York. Each day will focus on a different group of animals including, mammals, birds, raptors, reptiles and amphibians, invertebrates and spiders.
There will be outdoor explorations and tracking, indoor activities, hands‐on investigations, individual discovery, games, experiments, interactive demonstrations with live animals and
opportunities to handle the animals!
Bring your passion for animals and be prepared to come away with lots of new knowledge and amazing memories.
