St. Nicholas offers swim lessons for campers of all ages and ability. Lessons are two-week sessions that last 30 minutes each day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students are grouped by age and ability. Classes affected by the weather are rescheduled whenever possible. Times vary: classes are scheduled between 9:00AM and 12:00PM. Students are grouped based on age and skill level. Cost: $75 per session

St. Nicholas offers an exciting multi-day art and music component to our weekly schedule. On the days that groups are not scheduled for a field trip or swimming, children attend ART AND MUSIC CLASS.

ART Over the course of the summer, groups are encouraged to explore their own creativity and create many masterpieces using a variety of fun materials.

The MUSICcomponent provides opportunities for campers to be creative while working with others through the art of improvisation. They have the chance to become

comfortable sharing their singing and other musical talents in a creative and spontaneous environment. Campers also have the opportunity to experiment with various musical instruments during camp.

Garden activities include caring for greenhouse plants, making flower necklaces, watering, weeding, saving flower seeds and tasting garden goodies, like fresh tomato salsa.

Camp kids harvest food from the St. Nicholas school garden and set up a farm stand on Wednesday afternoons where parents can buy the produce. Proceeds support our com-munity outreach efforts.

Growing a garden is awesome fun!

Pre-Piano Camp is a 1-week adventure for children with little or no prior piano experi-ence. Besides introducing newcomers to the instrument, this class is also a great opportunity to reinforce basic piano skills and fundamentals for those with less than a year of private lessons. As an added bonus, most concepts introduced in the class can be used in the study of any instrument (including voice). Campers

learn the musical alphabet, basic rhythmic notation, notes on the grand staff, keyboard note names, and finger numbers. In addition to group work and activities, each student receives plenty of hands-on instruction at the instrument. For reference, campers also create a notebook of the things they have learned. Snacks are provided (please specify any food allergies). (Ages 5-10) Time: 9:00-11:00AM Cost $90 (includes a $5 material fee). (Min: 4 / max: 8)

PRE-PIANO CAMP B

How do I register? We can mail you a catalog containing a registration form or you can download it from our website at www.stns.org. Please complete both the reservation form and the application. Registration may be completed online. To register for ENRICHMENT CLASSES ONLY, please contact the business office.

How will the classes be grouped? The children are grouped by grade entering. Shifts to a different group can be requested but are not guaranteed.

What are the enrichment classes?Enrichment classes are offered as additional opportunities for your camper, and are dependent upon having a minimum number of students sign up. These classes provide campers a chance to look more closely at a topic that interests them. The fees for each enrichment class vary; please see the catalog for a detailed list. There are no enrichment classes on Wednesdays due to field trips. They are M/Tu/Th/F only (with the exception of Week 1 and Week 6). Camp is closed on Friday of Week 5 because it is July 4th; therefore, Monday classes are moved to Wednesday that week.

Where is drop off/pick up? And when?Children must check in and check out through the camp desk in the cafeteria. Camp opens at 7AM and closes at 6PM. Homeroom is at 8:30AM, and afternoon camp meeting is at 4:30PM. There is no additional charge for arriving before homeroom or picking up after camp meeting. (There is a late fee pick up after 6PM of $2.00 a minute per child.)

What do I send with my camper? Please send a sack lunch and sunscreen with your camper. (Also send a set of emergency clothes for the younger campers.) They will need a towel and swimsuit on their swim days. Also note that we can neither refrigerate nor heat their lunches. Please label everything. NO electronic devices. Students work in the school’s garden, so shoes may occasionally get dirty or muddy.

When are the swim days?5th grade and up swims four days a week for 1 hour on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade groups swim Mondays and Thursdays. PreK, K, and 2nd grade groups swim Tuesdays and Fridays.

What is the pool like? The pool is 3 feet deep in the shallow end and 5 feet deep in the deep end. Everybody takes a swim test before they are allowed to swim. There is a lifeguard and group leader on duty. We use a divider buoy line for the youngest groups.

Where are the field trips this year?We call our field trip day “Wonderful Wednesday.” Our schedule includes: Ruby Falls, The Challenger Center, Hamilton Skate, The Tennessee Aquarium, Imax, and The Creative Discovery Museum and Science Theater. Campers need to wear their camp T-shirt and closed-toe shoes on field trip days.
