    Ideas; meeting Cherry (changes his perception of Socs, sunsets), the fight (witnessing

    death), Windrixville (running away, losing his hair, seeing a different side to Dally),talking to Randy (about he futility of fighting), Johnnys death (loss of innocence),

    standing up to Bobs friends (maturity, street-wise), Dallys death (wasted life) and

    talking to Darry (realisation that he loves him, grows-up)

    Terminology;

    How to use a quote

    If the quote is less than two lines you place it within the text. Example;

    The cat was calm and content, like a soft pillowresting on the sofa. (pg. 23) An example ofthis is when Harry says, I have always stuck up for my buddies. This time was

    no exception. (pg. 23)

    If the quote is longer than two lines you indent it within the text. Example;

    An example of this is when Jenny states; I looked towards the jetty and saw that he was sitting with her, holding hands. I wentinto shock for a second and then a strong sensation of rage overcame me. I ran towards

    them and threw myself onto the girl, punching, screaming and tearing at her. (pg.23)

    In the novel The Outsiders the central character, fourteen year-old Ponyboy

    Curtis, undergoes a process of immense personal change.

    Nutshell

    The novel, published in 1967, is narrated by Ponyboy and sheds a light on the

    class conflict between the Greasers, a group of low-class youths, and the Socs

    (short for Socials), a group of privileged rich kids who live in the wealthy West

    Side of town.

    class conflict that surrounds him.
