TIPSS - Electronic Service Tool, Users Manual, October 2001 9

    1Application Overview 1

    About Perkins TIPSS - EST

The Perkins Integrated Parts & Service System

Electronic Service Tool (TIPSS - EST) is a service

tool designed to run on a personal computer (PC)

under Microsoft Windows. With Perkins TIPSS -

EST you can display the status of a group of

    parameters (temperatures, pressures, etc.)

simultaneously, view and clear active and logged

diagnostics, or display the current configuration of an

Electronic Control Module (ECM). Perkins TIPSS -

EST can perform these as well as many other tasks,

    such as:

    Display parameter status

    View and clear diagnostics

View events where irregularities occurred and

    were logged by the ECM

View and change configuration of the ECM

    Perform diagnostic tests

    Perform calibrations

View Trip information through Trip Summary,

    Histograms and Custom reports

    Print reports and diagnostic results

For some subscriptions of Perkins TIPSS - EST,

additional programs have been included with the

    Perkins TIPSS - EST program.

Perkins TIPSS - EST is designed to communicate

with the ECMs through a communication data link.

Perkins TIPSS - EST allows you to obtain data,

analyse it, and then diagnose existing and potential

    problems.

About Perkins TIPSS - EST Documentation

All Perkins TIPSS - EST documentation assumes the

user has some Microsoft Windows experience. Ifthis does not apply to you, please take some time to

acquaint yourself with Windows 95, 98, NT, or 2000

before installing Perkins TIPSS - EST.

The data and menus displayed in the illustrations of

this manual may be different from the data and menus

that you have displayed in Perkins TIPSS - EST. The

reason for this is that the data depends on the

Electronic Control Module (ECM) that Perkins TIPSS

    - EST has targetted as the current ECM.
