Try this

ancient remedy:

When you are tired, rest.

The world constantly tells us

to hustle. To work harder, longer,

stronger. Hustling is placed at the

mistake of undermining rest. A

toxic hustle culture tries to

associate rest with weakness and

We need rest. Rest is rejuvenation

Walk with the Scientist

Rasajalakam

The Department of Chemistry and Research Centre initiated and instituted an innovative programme “Walk

with a Scientist” in 2017. In this programme, eminent scientists from the country as well as abroad would

interact with the students. 'Walk with the Scientist' programme for this academic year was held on 18

February, 2021. The chief guest for this programme was Dr. Chetna Dhand, Senior Scientist at CSIR-

Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute, Bhopal.

Dr. Chetna gave a presentation on “The Journey Towards a Scientist”. She motivated students by sharing her

educational background and research life experiences with them. She also shared her research activities,

which are being carried out at National University, Singapore. Her journey from an ordinary student to a

Senior Scientist inspired the young minds.

The Department of Chemistry and Research Centre is running an Academic Extension Programme called

“Rasajalakam,” opening a window towards the wonderful world of Chemistry and its importance in daily

life, with a special focus on the budding young minds of the nearby schools. The main aim of this programme

is to impart chemical literacy to school students and to show them the role played by Chemistry in their daily

lives. This also aims to rouse the interest in science that is dormant in them through a variety of magical

experiments and demonstrations. We are confident that such programmes will create genuine interest to our

students to develop scientific knowledge, skill and they could have the opportunity to have a first-hand

experience in various chemical experiments. Rasajakalam 2021 was hled on 20 February, 2021 in

collaboration with Exodus Public School, Kochi. Dr. Nisha V S gave a presentation on “Step into the

wonderful world of Chemistry.” Prof. Joseph Prince D demonstrated chemistry magic.

Dr. Nisha V S also demonstrated the preparation of different health care products such as soap, sanitizer etc.

The demonstrations and magical experiments sparked the curious, scientific minds of the children present.
