Christmas Giveaway

St. John’s has had a longstanding tradition of help-

ing families in need during the Christmas Season.

That tradition will continue this year, but due to

COVID restrictions, it will need to take a different

form. Due to the need for social distancing (for work-

ers and recipients alike) we won’t collect toys for the

little red wagon, nor will we collect food items for the

food boxes. Instead we are asking for donations of

any of the following:

Gift Cards (with attached receipt) to WalMart or

Hannaford Supermarkets (with a value of no greater

than $25)

Monetary donations (checks made out to St. John’s

with the memo Christmas Giveaway.) From there

we will purchase gift cards with the donation.

If you wish to make a donation to the Christmas Give-

away, please send in your donation no later than

Sunday, November 28th. You can mail your dona-

tion to St. John’s, drop it in our mail slot (Bleecker St.

Entrance to the offices, or place it in the collection

basket.

Signups for those in need will take place at the St.

John’s Food Pantry at the Sr. Mary Theresa Out-

reach on the corner of Eagle and Elm Streets. If you

would like to sign up for Christmas Assistance,

please come to the Outreach (Eagle St. Door) on one

of the following dates:

Tuesday, November 9 (10:00am12:00pm)

Wednesday, November 10 (11:00am12:30pm)

Wednesday, November 17 (1:00pm2:30pm)

Thursday, November 18 (1:00pm2:30pm)

Tuesday, November 23 (10:00am11:30am)

You need to bring a picture ID for yourself and some

form of ID for the other members in your household).

The Christmas Giveaway will take place on Satur-

day, December 11th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at

St. John’s Church. Holding the event in church will

allow for appropriate social distancing and will keep

people inside in the event of inclement weather.

Thank you in advance for your understanding regard-

ing the changes and for your continuous generosity in

our work to help those in need. If you have any ques-

tions please call Sr. Paula Mayer at 3155256157.
