Replaces the Simpana IntelliSnap option for ETERNUS DX storage systems

ESM has better price compared to IntelliSnap but bundled to ETERNUS DX storage systems

For all other storage systems, IntelliSnap is needed

Never mix Foundation and Advanced licensing in same CommCell

Never mix FET and BET licensing model in the same CommCell

Few exceptions apply

CommCell capacity or performance can be expanded by additional appliances working as Media agent only (scale out approach)

Always include professional service in the offer for deployment and assessment

The CS200c Simpana license file contains one entry for the complete BET storage capacity

The BET license is independant from the number of media agents

Single CS200c (CommServe) or multiple CS200c (CommServe plus Media Agents) are possible

All are using the same CommCell

Single order must contain all CS200c systems

If a customer wants multiple CommCells, a separate order for each CommCell must be done

A new license file is needed in case of capacity expansions or functional changings for an existing CommCell

Main question for the order: Which system do I need?

Because of the internal balance of the CS200c components the question can be

reduced to “How much back end storage do I need?”

Back end Terabytes (BET)

The amount of backup data on disk storage after compression and deduplication

Needed storage size strongly depends on type of data, compression and deduplication rates, retention

periods, etc.

Front end Terabytes (FET)

The amount of data backed up before compression and deduplication

Matches the current largest full (or synthetic full) backup performed
