Richard Butler, project manager for South Pacific Plantations Limited (SPPL) announced that he’s seeking investors for growing, distributing and exporting the popular fruit through the firm’s farm development project. “Vanuatu has the perfect growing climate for papaya, enabling growers to produce maximum crops year-round that provide exceptional returns on investment,” said Butler. Papaya The Superfood Christopher Columbus called it the “fruit of the angels” and unlike many fruits, virtually every part of the papaya is used, from the peel to the seeds. It’s popular eaten fresh and dried for cooking and in trail mix snacks. Papaya is an ingredient in a wide variety of dietary supplements and can be found in some types of chewing gum. From supermarkets to health food stores, the popularity of the papaya is undisputed. The fruit has earned a designation as a superfood due to its abundant anti-oxidant properties and a host of essential vitamins. It promotes digestion, cardiovascular and colon health. Papaya boosts the immune system, replenishes good intestinal bacteria and even destroys internal parasites. Its many uses have made papayas one of the most highly prized fruits in the world.A variety of local markets for the fruit are available in Vanuatu, along with Australia and New Zealand. Growing Opportunities Individuals now have the opportunity to purchase strata titled, one-acre lots in Malekula, Vanuatu for a deposit of $4,000. Farms are $10,000 each and the remainder of the amountis vendor financed at an interest rate of only 5 percent.Lots can be purchased without a plantation agreement, but can’t be utilized for residential use. Monthly payments of $500 include the cost of clearing the land, planting and care for a year. Papayas grow quickly, and are fully mature and producing in nine months. Investors will see returns on their investment before their land is paid off.Local labor is available and each growing enterprise is a major contributor to the island’s economy. Fast Growing Profit Potential Approximately 400 papayas can be planted on a one-acre tract of land. The profit potential for the number of trees is estimated at $36,000 per harvest. Plants must be replaced every three years to maintain high yields. The process reduces cash flow slightly, resulting in three months of production instead of six.

Do your research and you will find that one of the major exports from Hawaii is papaya. It is a staple fruit for the hotel breakfast market in the USA, Australia and New Zealand - just look at the breakfast buffet at your closest hotel.

Problem for the northern hemisphere users is that this fruit does not produce in winter; there winter is Vanuatu’s summer. Market number one.

Market Number Two- Australia and New Zealand. Papayas are always in demand and have excellent pricing. Wholesale price is prudently estimated at A$1/Kilo, although higher prices are more realistic.

SPPL is SPPL is offering a limited number of strata titled lots to the public. You may secure your lot with an initial in-vestment of only A$4000 full price. A further payment of $6,000 to develop the lot. This payment buys your seedlings (400), clears and prepares your lot. This payment can be paid over 12 months (A$500 per month + interest). Before you have finished paying for your strata titled lotyou will commence getting your returns from the sale of your fruits.

We also recommend that each investor become adistributor. You may choose to market your papaya fruitsto your local hotel, fruit grocer and restaurants. This will give you extra income above the expected return.
