14 years old - skip some lessons – learns more on himself - convinces his mother – a lot of members of the family already proved that school isn’t so necessary
16 years old - leaves school permanently - spends his time hanging around with friends – no diploma - mother gives him money - little job here and there for his friends - neighbourhood is his world - high level of unemployment – criminality - lots of poor families - far from the city centre – no weekend jobs or leisure activities - less control - started to learn Dutch - in his own neighbourhood everyone speaks French - Dutch is too difficult and doesn’t need to speak it anyway
17 years old – bored - has to go to the city centre - bus to the city centre – expensive – complicated timetables - playing computer games - doesn’t leave his room - doesn’t see his friends - started to learn to work with the computer - not so simple at all - tries to surf on the internet – computer polluted with viruses – crashes - doesn’t know what’s happening in the world - doesn’t read newspapers
18 years old - neighbourhood becomes too small - mother complains - decides to go to the city centre - doesn’t know how to get there - borrows a scooter - drives down a cyclist - scooter broken - friend angry - must go to tribunal - criminal record - financial debts – mother puts him on the street – stays at different houses - also his own friends put him on the street - can’t pay anything for their hospitality
social service - has to prove that he’s looking for a job - mental problems - not much self – confidence - doesn’t know how to behave during interviews - always knows better – doesn’t’ find the right address - mostly he comes too late – they always refusing him because of his criminal record
Doesn’t really know what kind of job he’s searching for…
