General comments

UEAPME welcomes the new Strategic Framework broadly agrees with the main challenges on better implementation of

EU OSH legislation by focusing on simplification of existing legislation and strengthening

the capacity of MSE improving the prevention of work-related diseases including existing, new and emerging risks promoting the sustainability of working lives due to demographic

changes appreciates the emphasis put on small and micro enterprises to

facilitate compliance with EU health and safety legislation

I. On the strategic objectives underpinning the strategy

facilitate compliance with OSH legislation, particularly by micro and small enterprises

better enforcement of OSH legislation by Member States simplify existing legislation address the ageing of the workforce, emerging new risks,

Conclusion

EU Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at work 2014-2020 is a step in the right direction

UEAPME particularly appreciates the new focus put on the needs of MSE and

the flexibility to take into account national specificities Social partners and social dialogue on the appropriate level

are integral part of the new Framework
