Eucharistic Miracle of

The Eucharistic Miracleof Eten happened about365 years ago in the Peruviantown of Port Eten. In a Hostexposed for public adoration,there appeared the Child Jesusand three interconnectedhearts of a brilliant whitecolor. Every year, the feastin honor of this event beginson July 12, with the transferof the Host of the Miraclefrom its Sanctuary to thechurch in the City of Eten,and it ends on July 24.

he first apparition of the Divine Child inthe Most Holy Sacrament took place on thenight of June 2, 1649, during the Vespers

and the solemn exposition in honor of the feast ofCorpus Christi. At the end of the service, theFranciscan monk Jerome de Silva Manrique, wasabout to return the monstrance to the tabernacle,but he suddenly stopped. In the Host thereappeared the brilliant face of a Child, framed bythick brown curls that falling to the shoulders. All the faithful present in the church experiencedthe same vision.

The second apparition took place afew days later, on July 22 of the same year, duringthe celebrations in honor of St. Mary ofMagdalene, Patroness of the city. According tothe testimony of Brother Marco Lopez, superior

of the convent in Chiclayo, during the expositionof the Most Holy Sacrament “the Divine ChildJesus again appeared in the Host, dressed in apurple tunic. Beneath it he wore a shirt up tothe middle of the chest, according to the customof the South American Indians. Through thissign, the Divine Child wanted to identify withthe Mochican inhabitants of Eten, to demon-strate His love for them. In the same apparition,which lasted about 15 minutes, many also sawappearing in the Host three small white hearts,united among themselves. These symbolizedthe Three Persons of the Holy Trinity : theFather, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, present in the consecrated Host. To this day, the feast in honor of the Miracle of the Divine Child of Eten, continues to attract thousands of faithful yearly.
