Project FLY s MethodsHistorically, we have had tremendous success with project FLY. For example, through needs assess-

ments and surveys, we’ve been able to identify the positive impact we have had on the youth within th

program. By the end of last year’s project, we increased the youth’s interest in post-secondary educa-

tion by 70%, entrepreneurship by 80% and financial literacy by 80%. Not only do the youth learn directl

from our workshops, but we also provide them with opportunities to put into action what they’ve

learned. Additionally, we have created 1 job, as well as secured 4 other jobs for the youth participating

in the program. We are extremely excited to be continuing this project on a much larger scale. We are

expecting to have an even larger impact this year by involving over 100 at-risk youth and even more

community partners.

A b o u t P r o j e c t F L YProject FLY, Future Leaders in Youth, is a developmental workshop series in which we aim to provide

at-risk youth with the confidence to tackle opportunities in areas such as employment, post-seconda

education and entrepreneurship. We’ve partnered with Christie Lake Kids, Youth Services Bureau and

Youth Bureau in order to run the sessions for youth between the ages of 14 to 18. Project FLY include

7 workshops, with one happening each month. In addition to an introductory leadership and concludin

workshop, we will also focus on five core business topics: financial literacy, value of education, attain-

ing a job, professional soft skills, and entrepreneurship.

youth secure employment. Through our needs assessment and impact surveys, we found that Projec

FLY increased the youth’s interest in post-secondary education by 70% and in entrepreneurship by

80%, and knowledge of financial literacy increased by 80%. Project FLY participants also received expe

riential learning through developing, and executing a coffee house that featured local talent. From the

event, the youth helped raise over $2,500 from sponsors, raffle ticket sales, and ticket sales.
