Principles of Effective Mainstreaming• AT ALL TIMES BASED ON THE TENETS OF THE UNCRPD
• ENGAGEMENT: Inclusion of widest possible range of representative people with disabilities, especially Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs)
• ACCESS: Ensuring a genuinely inclusive environment that results in effective dialogue and engagement at all stages of the policy-making process. ( Physical and information)
• RESOURCING: Adequate funding to ensure critical engagement between governments and civil society institutions (particularly DPOs) in the development, implementation and evaluation of disability inclusion

disabilities

Conclusions
• EDAMAT is one tool for monitoring the inclusion of disability in mainstream public policy.
• If used it has the potential to make comparative analysis between countries.
• However, mainstreaming is contingent on sufficient human and financial resources being made available.
• Ongoing critical dialogue between governments and civil society is essential
• Mainstreaming has to be based upon the tenets of the UNCRPD.
