1. EIP-AGRI Concept
EIP-AGRI in a nutshell
Aim: To foster a competitive and sustainable agriculture and forestry sector that "achieves more from less“
Approach: Closing the innovation gap between research and practice by:
• using the interactive innovation model• linking actors via the EIP Network
Knowledge and partners
• Ideas to test• multi-actor projects• thematic networks
• Research needs• Operational Groups

What is an Operational Group? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WhhGIocMO8
EIP-AGRI Operational Groups – basic principles Partnership working on a project funded by the Rural Development Programme
Project must tackle practical needs of farmers/foresters Addressing a problem or an opportunity from practice: bottom-up !
Various types of activities (development of new products, pilot projects, but also short supply chain, environmental projects, climate change etc., …)
Partners with varied competencies, matching the problem or opportunity at stake, however “Specific requirements can be set at national / regional level ”
New group, or existing group with new project
Generating knowledge freely available to all

2. EIP-AGRI State of Play
More than 350 Operational Groups started in various fields.
October 2016, Clustering analysis covers:
175 Operational Groups
21 RDPs (one national RDP and 20 regional RDPs)
6 MS (AT, BE, DE, ES, FR, UK)
In terms of sectoral coverage:
55% vegetal productions,
33% animal production,
10% both animal and vegetal production,
2% forestry, wood and trees.
In terms of scope:
Top 5• Plant protecton
• Precision farming
• Agro-environment
• New supply chains
• Organic farming
