EUROPEAN SKY UNION

LANGUAGEs LIGHT AIRLINE

Europe has a great history about languages, alphabets and language evolution. Words travelled through cultures and border to become part of different languages. This is the beauty of language: travelling words.

Comfort is about light. Light de-termines your body clock, your well-being, your stress.

On a plane light may appears as an unsignificant details, but it is not. A certain lightning can make you feel sleepy, an other one can make you feel dyna-mics and ready to focus.

The main issues of taking the plane can be the jetlag, the dis-comfort, the stress. What if all of this may be solved by light ?

We think that an airline is a bridge between cultures, between people and between understandings. We think travel-ling is the remedy to xenopho-bia and that travelling is a right and a duty.

Enlarged horizons, opened mind and shared words. That what an airline company should aim for its customers.

Travelling words. Comfort is about light. A bridge between cultures.

MAIN IDEAS

THE LOGO

WE HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON

WE HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON

Built with letters from the three main alphabets used in Europe (Greek, Latin, Cyrillic) and inspired from the shape of the moucharaby, these windows filte-ring light and allowing the air to go through so that the houses stay fresh.

The complete logo is with the name of the company « Euopean Sky Union» but it can also be a simple pictogramme acting exactly the same : the lines are fading to let the word Sky appears.

ACTIVATIONThe logo activate itself with light on the different supports in the airport. For instance on the flight tickets it can be activated with light scanner that makes appears differents informations. It could be the seat number, a serial code or simply a personalised bon voyage wish.

PATTERNS

In addition to the work on the logo we thought about a whole range of textile for the seats, curtains and uniforms of the stewardess.

How to use light and letters in our design ?We built a map with a maze of letters and experi-mented to cut it on certain area to let the light go through. It gave an other pattern like a negative of the first one.

AIRCRAFTSSeveral propositions for the design of the aircrafts of the company using the differents pattern or the logo as a pattern.

TEXTILE & MATERIALSThese are the trials we made on different textile, with many techniques to let the light go through the fabric.

We aimed to create a range of textile that may be used for uniforms, curtains, seats, pillows...

the Making ofTexTile

First we choose the fabric and flatten it on a table so that it doesn’t move.

We use a screen printed with the desired pattern, which we place on the fabric.

Then we apply the textile paint on the screen and spread it on the pattern.

We wash the screen, and get back the paint left on it for the next use.

I come from Paris, I am a graphic design student at ESAG Penninghen and went to Tel-Aviv as an exchange student for 4 months.

This project was really important for me because it tells also about my experience in Israël, discovering a whole new country, new language, new alphabet different religions. And yet I felt so welcomed and close to people, despite all the differences we had.

Working with Mor, a textile design student, was a whole new experience as I did not know anything about textile.

It was a nice challenge.

I live in Tel Aviv and I am a student at the Textile Design department in Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.

I am glad that I had the opportunity to do something different in this project, and I am more than happy that I had the chance to work with a partner from another department, and from another country.

I learned a lot about branding process and got to know about a field that was new to me.

I had a great time.
