Turning and automated integrat
The new range of BV vertical
lathes with integrated automa-
tion is the result of EUROTECHs
tradition in the manufacture of
horizontal CNC-lathes equipped
with automatic
loading/unloading systems and
has been designed to meet
customers requirements for
cost-effective chuck machining.
Thanks to the technology of a
vertical moving spindle a simple
two-axis lathe can perform
both unmanned machining
and automatic loading/unload-
ing of parts.
The main features of the BV
series are:
RIGIDITY AND STABILITY:
the main mechanical parts,
such as machine structure,
guideways, ballscrews, spindles
and turret are robustly propor-
tioned to deliver high chip
removal rate.
Available with ASA 6(BV210) and ASA 8 (BV315)
spindle, prepared to accept
chuck sizes 8, 10, 12 and
the pallet systems to load the
parts, the BV vertical lathes can
be equipped with live tools,
C-axis and Y-axis to carry out
complete machining of
complex parts.
PRODUCTIVITY: the fast
indexing servo turret combined
with the high acceleration of
axes and spindles enables the
reduction of loading/unloading
and idle/times (higher perform-
ance at reduced idle times).
The well proportioned machin-
ing area guarantees quick and
convenient tooling-up opera-
tions and makes chip removal
easier.
ACCURACY:
the thermalstabilization of the main heat
sources, of the spindle and tur-
ret along with the use of linear
scales maximizes accuracy.
ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY
AND COST-SAVING: the
use of guideways lubricated
with grease eliminates prob-
lems related to the contami-
nation of coolant, thus drasti-
cally reducing disposal costs.

T u r r e t
The sturdy and fast indexing
EUROTECH turret (0,1 sec.)
is operated by a servo
motor. The 3-ring Hirth cou-
pling assures maximum rigid-
ity and the turret casting is
cooled to ensure the highest
accuracy. In the versions
equipped with live tools, all
the 12 turret stations are
prepared to accept rotarytoolholders to carry out
milling, boring and tapping
operations.
T o o l s e t t e r
The tool probing system
makes tooling-up operations
safe and quick thus avoiding
the need to manually inputtool offsets.
S t r u c t u r e
The massive rigid cast-iron
slant bed has been designed
following F.E.M. analysis in
order to ensure high rigidity
and exceptional thermal sta-
bility under any machining
conditions.

S p i n d l eThe heavy duty EUROTECH inte-
gral motor-spindles (double speed
ratio), with high torque and
power at low range are assem-
bled using the combination of
ball and roll bearings duly
dimensioned to allow powerful
cutting, high accuracy and
superior surface finishing.
Nearly 6of Y-axis travel :turn/mill complex parts in
one operationWith the Y-axis the BV verti-
cal lathe becomes a com-
plete turn-mill center accom-
plishing off-center operations
that are impossible to com-
plete with C-axis only. The
generous stroke of 5.9
places the BV series at the
top of its class.
The main performance bene-
fits achievable with a turning
center equipped with live
tools and Y-axis are:
- improved parts accuracy;
- reduction of down-time;
- reduction of costs;
- increased flexibility tocounter constantly chang-ing market demand.

The vertical moving spindle
performs both machining and
automatic loading/unloading
of parts. This solution allows a
simple two-axis CNC-lathe to
become an automatic ma-
chine to carry out unmanned
machining operations.
For loading and unloading of
parts, the standard BV config-
uration comprises a chain with
location prisms for blanks and
a simple conveyor for finished
parts. The loading station is
equipped with a sprung plat-
form to compensate any irreg-
ularity of the blanks.
Air blowers and cleaning de-
vices are provided to eliminate
the chips.

Customized solutions
to achieve maximum productivity.
To offer more flexibility, sever-
al solutions are available to
load and unload parts accord-
ing to machining require-
ments. It is also possible to
link two machines via a turn-
over station to perform com-
plete machining on both
sides of the component.
Solution n1: loading and
unloading operations on a
conveyor for small-sized
blanks or finished parts (up to
5.5)
Solution n2: (parts up to
9.8 dia.): a pick-up station
composed of a range of
conveyors that line up and
convey the blanks to the
loading station; the finished
parts are loaded on to a sepa-
rate conveyor.
Solution n3: two machines
linked by a turn-over station
and a storage system for
blanks and finished parts.

The machine is equipped with digital system
based on a CN MELDAS 65S-L and drives by
MITSUBISHI. This is a control unit featuring an
automation interface that increases productivity
and facilitates management. A cutting load moni-
toring system is available on request to carry out
safe automatic machining with limited operator
