Evaluation question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I have represented my model into the indie-pop group and placed them into this category because my magazine theme is indie-pop. I got her to wear an indie-pop style, which could be classed as more pop than indie. I made her wear a collar and a grey jumper to show off the indie style because collars are very indie and I thought that would complement the outfit well if she had one underneath her jumper.

Similarities of both artists Differences of both artists

Their facial expressions look quite mysterious and serious to the audience. This is because they are both looking at the camera in a way where they look very emotional/serious about something. Also they look very serious and emotional because of their music. Both of them have very deep music, which represents them in a way that they can view it through the picture. Their eyes say a lot of how they feel and also show how their music would be because of how they would pose during a photo shoot. Because of their facial expressions being this way it makes the social groups they represent to be related to them, as they can feel the same as their social group would and they can relate to them in their music and the things they wear and how they look.A difference would be that they are from different ethnic groups because my model Eleni is Indian but British and Lorde is From New Zealand and is white. There arent many Ethnic groups who are not white British under the indie-pop category. This represents particular social groups because the social groups they would fit under may change, or may not change. This is because they are different ethnic groups to each other and they may attract the social groups which also represent their ethnic groups also. They may also attract the same social groups because of the music aspects of their careers.

They also have similar clothing because it allows them to be them-selves and not have others commenting on the m. Both look indie-pop with the collar (on the right picture) and the patterns (on the picture above). This links to the social groups they represent, because the clothing they wear will influence the people (who read the magazine and listen to this style of music they both make). This will influence them to follow their trends and become a bigger fan of them if they like the clothing they wear. This is because this can influence the clothing choices they make themselves.Another difference would be that the background colours are different and makes the two pictures look different to each other. Elenis is more dark and indie like whereas Lorde has a more clear, white and very light. This represents particular social groups because the colours of the photographs can make peoples views change about which genre of music the artist is from. Because Elenis is darker than lordes it may seem that she is from the indie-rock genre rather than the indie-pop genre.

Another similarity would be that they are both under the same category for music, which is indie-pop. There are also stars like Lana Del Ray who also fit into this category. This similarity represents particular social groups because from their music they would fit into the social group of indie-pop. This is because their music would influence the people who dress that style and listen to all that style of music.
