Planning

The internet was the main media technology I used to conduct my research. I either used internet explore when on a normal Computer or Safari when using a Mac. The internet enabled me to conduct thorough research into different theme, genre, similar media products and also how to construct my products. The use of the internet helped me develop my analytical skills in my research of similar media product; as well as my ability to pick out specific and relevant information which aided me in the construction of my media product. For example when using the internet to research codes and conventions of Thrillers I needed to identify and pick out codes which I could 1. use 2. were relevant to my project 3. which I could access or reach.

The internet enabled me to use YouTube to fins similar media products to research “Knowing to much”, “Childhood issues” and “Kidnapped”. As well as IMDB to look at thriller films this had posters and trailer links I would need to look at and analysis for successful construction. In partnership with IMDB I used Google image to find similar media products. As the producer I would have had to find potential locations for each scene I used Google maps to do this.

To document my findings from my research used PowerPoint and Microsoft Word, once typed I used a combination of Slideshare or Prezzi to then upload the slides to Blogger. Blogger is where I published all my findings and research which I could then look back on for reference, I also used blogger to embed relevant videos.

Again I either used a Mac or regular Computer for the planning of my work. When planning the construction of my work I used both PowerPoint and Microsoft Word when having to write things up as well as to create a schedule of things to be done. I also used App store to download an app called Any.Do to document things which I as the producer had to as well as thing I had to do for my individual ancillaries.

The main media technology used in planning was PowerPoint this was to construct the storyboard which was crucial to the construction if out film. The photos used for our story board was take on my iPhone. A scanner was used to upload my plans for my ancillaries which I did free hand, based on my findings from my research.

Research

ConstructionDuring my construction is where I used the widest range of media technologies. I used both Hardware, Software applications and websites .

HardwareThe hardware I used during construction varied from a Mac, regular Computer, Digital camera, Video camera, HD camera. Initially we used a Video camera to film the second scene of out film. Then we went on to use a HD camera the main difference being in the quality. We the used a uploading device to get out footage onto Mac computers to be edited and to take screen shots for out ancillaries.

Software - ApplicationsThe 1st piece of soft ware we used was Final cut Pro where we edited our film. This was a new type of media technology we had used and I used the internet t do research into how to use it on sites such a YouTube. Unlike Final cut Pro we had used Photoshop and InDesign previously for As Media Studies to construct ancillaries. Again I used the internet to research new techniques and tools I could use.

Software - WebsitesThrough out the construction I used software websites to learn more, for example watching YouTube videos on how to us Photoshop and InDesign more efficiently. As well as Blogger to document each stage of the construction process and Google to make general searches.
