GenderFEMALESMy media product represents females as respectful and independent as the girl on the front

cover and double page spread dominates the whole page. Her Mise en Scene denotes red lipstick, black fur on her shoulders, a black feather earring whilst her long hair is all to the other side. This suggests glamour and femininity as this particular costume and makeup design is mainly for the female gender.

On the front cover, her direct mode of address and body language facing towards the reader suggests that she is friendly and approachable which also allows females to be seen as confident.

Overall, females are represented as the traditional stereotype (such as being glamorous and feminine) however certain elements have changed as she is seen as independent and is the focus point of the magazine.

MALESMales are represented as modern and stylish as the contents page shows a male wearing an outfit from ‘the vintage clothing line’ suggesting he is trendy and has an attractive fashion. His stance on the image is quite leaned forwards as he has a happy grin on his face as though he’s laughing. This suggests youth and energy which categorises males to have these types of characteristics.

Youth

The double page spread especially suggests maturity from the main girl as the context of the magazine is about her new life with her new career. As a result, her busy and successful lifestyle could suggest that the stereotypical idea of youth of isn’t demonstrated through her because she has a career therefore coveys that she is hardworking.

On the other hand, two polaroid pictures from the contents page shows teenagers (both gender) being photographed because of their style. This represents youth in a good light as it conveys the idea that older teenagers/young adults care about appearance therefore look after themselves. Similar to the double page spread images, these slightly oppose to the stereotypical teenager however allow the reader too see them in a good and mature light.

Musicians

My magazine represents musicians as unique because the style of musicians throughout is quite an old fashioned genre which has been modernised for today’s audience. The new band featuring on the contents page denote two girls playing instruments. It is clear that one is playing the keyboard and the other, a trumpet. Portraying the idea of new upcoming musicians, it suggests that they are unique and are always trying to set a new style or image whilst filling gaps in the music industry. This allows them to be well known and distinctive.
