QUESTION 4:How did you use new technologies in the

planning, construction and evaluation of your coursework?

The use of technologies is clear throughout my planning, evaluation and my research, I used a number of programmes for different reasons to complete my music video.

TECHNOLOGIES:Photoshop-

I used photoshop to edit my ancillaries.

Fireworks-Similarly to photoshop I used fireworks to edit my ancillaries.

iMovie-I used iMovie on an apple desktop to edit my movie together-but I also used iMovie for my evaluation.

Keynote-Keynote is a programme on iMovie which I used to create titles for my evaluation.

Webcam-I used a webcam for my planning to take photos of my research and planning for the music video.

Light control-I used the light control in the theatre whilst filming the music video.

Other than using technologies, I also used various equipment to create my music video.

I used my lumix FZ38 DSLR to shoot my film. This camera includes hybird super zoom, HD movie, face recognition and many other settings.

I also used a tripod to get steady shots at different ranges. I used two different tripods, one static and one moving, therefore I could shoot tracking shots as well as static shots.

FIREWORKS-used for ancillary images

I used fireworks to crop the images to fit the canvas size of the album cover/back cover/ poster and inside sleeve, but to also adjust basic settings like the contrast and saturation.

1. First I would import the image onto fireworks.

2. Then I cropped the image to a suitable size.

3. Then I would alter the brightness and contrast to make the image look more effective and to make certain features stand out.

4. Then I would finally export the image as a jpeg so that I can import it onto photoshop to edit it more.

PHOTOSHOP-Used for ancillary images.

1. First I would import the image into photoshop.

2. Then I browsed through the filter effects until I found one suitable for my brand and genre-’rough pastels effect’.

3. Then I altered the stroke length, detail, texture e.c.t until the image was suitable for a front, back cover or an inside sleeve.

4. I finally saved the image as a jpeg.

I used photoshop to add the effects to the image to make them look effective and to match the brand and genre.

IMOVIE

1. I opened a new project in which I can edit my music video in.

2. I then created an event called ‘music video’ to import my footage into-I first imported all my footage onto iphoto and then dragged the footage over to this event.

3. After I have imported all my footage, I can start editing it all together- I can select a piece of footage and move it over to the project and then edit it together.

4. Then if i double click on each section I can edit the exposure, speed, add effects, stabilize and decrease the volume.

iMovie is probably the main programme which I used, I used it for my evaluation and for the actual construction of the music video.
