Is the order of the steps best presented? If not reorder by numbering.
Identify the transition words and phrases used by placing a wiggly line underneath them. Is there a need for clearer transitions?

1. Find the topicBrainstorm a list of possible topics that may include
• Movies -
• Topics from your major – procedures, research, theories
• Literature – short story, novel
• Policies /laws– college attendance, immigration, plagiarism policies, healthcare reform, etc…
Once a topic is chosen, brainstorm and list details about the topic
2. Draft a thesis statement.
Overall purpose of essay and set your judgment
It should argue both sides of the topic based on the criteria that you set but it should be clearly evident if the topic or object meets the criteria or if it fails to meet the criteria

Defend or challenge an idea or theory
Contrast 2 items and show how one supersedes the other
