46 How does the department ensure that programme objectives are constantly met

and learning outcomes are monitored? :

Department often gets together with Gandhian Organizations, alumni and

other agencies. During field study of students, faculties visit and evaluate

the performance of students. Field researches are very good sources of

feedback through which we can monitor and evaluate learning outcomes.

Besides, the department has developed a continuous evaluation system so

that students’ performance can be monitored constantly.

47 Highlight the participation of students and faculty in extension activities :

100% extension activities in village shibir, Abhimukhta, Padyatra

Strengths :

2. Peaceful and beautiful campus with excellent infrastructural

facilities like well equipped computer lab, rich library, classroom

Weaknesses:

1. As most of our students come from rural background, have rural

base, the medium of instruction is Gujarati. Hence, students face

problems in coping up with English language.

2. Being a residential programme, we are unable to attract youth of

urban society at the time of admission. So, we have very little benefit

of rural-urban cultural interaction.

3. Less number of female students taking admission.

Opportunities :

1. Regular visits by international experts.

2. Collaboration with various Gandhian universities.

3. Intervention in social cause

Challenges:

1. Since our department is based on Gandhian values and lifestyle,

modern youth is not convinced easily to adapt to such ideology.

2. Students are taught values like ethics, honesty, thrift, truth, non

violence, etc., which sometimes put them in tight corner in practical

life.

3. In the age of globalisation and corporate culture, it is a challenging

task to attract wide number of inputs along with our ideals and

ethics.

4. Competition from other institutions and self financed colleges.
