Dear Friends at Holy Trinity,

For me, that milestone marks a real turning point in my ministry here. As your interim pastor, I have no idea how long I will be with you. However, as I write this, I am aware that names of potential pastors have been submitted to the Call Committee.

This point in an interim ministry is indeed bittersweet: Because our time together is coming to its conclusion, I can reflect on the accomplishments of nearly a year of min-istry and growth. On the other hand, looking toward a new year together is more diffi-cult because I have no idea how far we will move together into the future.

As we move forward to the season of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost), I do know that God continues to bless the ministry and gifts Holy Trinity offers. This is truly a great place to serve. Many people help to create a wonderful environment for faith and for the development of people of faith in this place.

I also think I am somewhat wistful about the ending of the year because our long-time Church Administrator, Margaret Hulsey, is retiring. I have appreciated all of Marga-ret’s help throughout this year, and my last months without that help will certainly be more challenging. I hope you will join me in wishing her Godspeed as she moves into retirement. We will certainly miss her contributions to the ministry we share at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. At the same time, we give thanks for her service and the gifts she has brought to the ministry we share in the name of Jesus Christ.

Children’s Ministry Update

Join us at VBS June 12-16 from 9:00 a.m. to noon each day. On Friday, June 16 at 11:30p.m we invite everyone to join us for a family picnic. Parents are invited to arrive each day about 11:30 p.m. in the sanctuary to see the children and enjoy the music as each day closes! VBS is one of our biggest events and gives Holy Trinity a wonderful outreach opportunity providing VBS free is a strong statement to our community related to our desire to be a part of their lives. Please pray with me that God will bless this event by sending us families that need a church home as well as our neighbors in the community. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, neighbor or friend, please be sure to invite the children in your lives to be part of this amazing week. They will be so glad you did!! Please check the fellowship Hall for items to donate.

Please join me in praying for our VBS staff; at this point we are in need of 10 adult leaders and even more youth for us to be well staffed for the week. Even if you only have a couple of days that you can help, that would make a huge impact on the week! Please contact Gaye Markham at the church office at 770-971-4600 or at [email protected]. Thank you for always responding to the needs we have in Children’s Ministry. Let’s make sure kids know that “They are Created by God, Built for a Purpose!” That is our awesome theme this year. Attacks on our kid’s self-image and bullying are rampant nationwide, and during the VBS week our kids will be learning some powerful and encouraging stories that will arm kids with so many positive truths.

Adult Ministry News New summer worship schedule begins May 28th through July 30th. There will be one Sunday service at 10:00AM, and no change to Saturday service at 5:30PM. Exciting news! All of our programs will take the usual break for summer, but will begin again the first Sunday in August. On August 6th we will be kicking-off our fall programs and events! We will be following the school calendar this fall, so schedule your fun and head out of town in June and July but be sure you are back in August as programs resume! We are planning some new small groups that will be timely related to where our church is at this time. I’m sure you have heard the scripture in Esther where it says “Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” We as a church are looking around and seeing so many things change and wanting to have God’s will here at Holy Trinity, but is there something we are supposed to do in relation to “this time?” Maybe your part is to provide encouragement; we all need this in our lives from time to time. Maybe you are supposed to make a difference financially as we are going through this transition. Maybe there is a place of leadership that you could be part of in the next few years. Maybe it’s to be more committed to attendance each week and growing in your faith. Only you and God know what “this time” is, but be on the lookout for what God is doing and get in on it! Right now we all know we can be diligent in prayer for our new Pastor and his family. Let’s all get ready to be used in new ways as these things unfold before us! Wow! What an exciting time to be at Holy Trinity!

Looking Ahead to Summer at HT!

HT June Youth News The end of the school year is such a happy time, but also bittersweet. It is hard to let our beloved seniors move on. The congregation recognized and blessed our High School graduates during Worship on May 21 including: Carter Crenshaw, Casey Stephan, Regan Poarch, Annabelle Held, Krystl Wood, Justin John and Jonathan Paul. We offer a very special congratulations to each of them. We love you with all our hearts, are proud of all you have accomplished and so excited for the adventures and experiences ahead.

The Holy Trinity Yard Sale was a huge success thanks to our fantastic youth and family community and to the generous donations from the congrega-tion!! Thank you to all who volunteered, donated or shopped the Yard Sale. It was a HUGE undertaking and couldn’t have happened without your support. Special thanks to Karen Stephan, the 2017 Yard Sale Chair, for working tirelessly on the planning and coordination of the Yard Sale. You did a fantastic job!!

Coming up on June 11, as part of the ELCA’s effort to highlight ELCA Global Ministries, our youth are planning a special Worship and Fellowship that will bring in elements of Puerto Rican culture, music, language and food. We hope you will join us for this service!

June 12-16 the youth will serve as part of the VBS Crew and then the following week will head off to “AFFIRM”, the SE Synod Lutheran Youth Camp at the U. of West Alabama.
