Little late but he came

For the first time Sushil is in the executive body of the

welfare association. Therefore, he had to look after

many odd things of the welfare association besides hisnormal discharge of duty. However, his immediate boss

always helped him when he had a call for welfare

association works.

The top boss or the General Manager of the project is

quite a man around 52+ years of age but he is an unscrupulously angry, punctual like

a paranoid, workaholic, haughty & contemptuous person. Whatever he things right

goes for it. Does not care for others opinion at all. Any adversary is crashed

ruthlessly. Many-a-times Sushil thinks that the man is not like an administrator but a

rather trouble shooter. He himself takes all the trouble to get into the problem andsolves it himself. Working with him is no fun at all. He does not like to rely on others

and gives more tension than satisfaction.

For increasing profitability he takes some decisions which are quite contrary to the

core values of the company. In a few interactions Sushil raised those points but he

was mulled very obviously. Even the man threatened him indirectly not to raise those

points again else he would have a very tough time to deal in future. Everybody tries

to avoid him and Sushil is no exception. He seem to have forgotten the basics of

leadership – A good leader must be a good human being first.

There is a rumor that the man has high blood pressure and blood sugar. He had

already been to some of the top class hospitals of the city recently.

But Sushil was caught with him in the welfare activities...

As per the welfare in charge Sushil was to look after the raising day celebrations. The

celebration includes cracker show at the welfare ground and community dinner . He

has to officially invite the man and his wife for the function & then escort them for

inauguration of the show followed by community dinner.

The huge fire work was scheduled to start at 8:30 PM. As per the official protocol

Sushil was to reach the GM bungalow at 8:20 PM , receive & escort them to his

official car to the welfare ground. The reception team at the ground will receive them

with flower bouquet and then usher to the dais. With his permission Sushil will

declare the beginning of the celebration.

At 8:20 PM sharp Sushil along with the joint secretary reached his bungalow which is

a two storied sprawling mansion. Sushil knew that his wife was not there as the white2nd

Toyota official car was seen to be parked on the way at the shopping complex

where madame was doing shopping. That means the inauguration is going to be



delayed.

They crossed the security kiosk of his bungalow. The security man must have joined

new , he asked Sushil for credentials. Sushil pressed the bell at the car portico but no

one came out in the next two minutes. Even the 24 hours attendant too seemed to be

on leave today. After five more minutes Sushil pressed the bell again but nothing

happened. The whole atmosphere around the bungalow looked to be very wired and

unnatural. But as per the security the man is inside the mansion.

His joint secretary wanted to call the residence number but Sushil tersely rejected the

idea. If somebody does not want to respond the door bell then he may not respond the

telephone call as well. Instead Sushil sent him an SMS telling that they are coming

again in another fifteen minutes.

Together they returned to the road where his car was parked. After waiting for fifteen

minutes he went to the car portico again and pressed the door bell. No answer. They

called the landline number. The eerie sound of the phone was breaking the silence of

the bungalow yet there was no movements inside the sparsely lit bungalow. The wind

was uniformly blowing the curtains in the enormously spacious rooms. A huge bat

passes over their head towards the adjacent garden.

Sushil patiently pressed the door bell then suddenly heard someone calling from

behind , “Guys , come, I'm here ..”

Sushil & his deputy almost stumbled on the doorway – when did he come out ?

The man in long stride went ahead of them and climbed in his official car. Obviously

the wife is not with him. Sushil and his deputy followed the car. They are just less

than half an hour delayed. They reached the ground. His eyes were totally covered

behind the black spectacle. Haughtily he bypassed the reception process and went

straight to the dais and took his seat.

Immediately he signaled Sushil to start the celebrations.

The next 50 minutes everybody got spellbound to the spectacular fireworks at the

sky. In the meantime Sushil noticed that the man got up and moved towards his car.

Sushil came running but he stopped and signalled him behind his black goggles to

continue the celebrations.

The man left the ground.

The dinner was over by 11 PM. At 11:05 Sushil's boss got a phone call from Mrs. GM

. They all rushed to the project hospital where he was brought unconscious & stiff.



The doctors declared him dead on arrival. He was shifted to the city hospital where a

postmortem was carried out. Meanwhile Sushil's immediate boss was made in charge

of the project. A condolence meeting was arranged at the project.

After a couple of days Sushil was summoned in the project in charge's chamber.

Immediately on his arrival his boss handed him a report. It was the postmortem report

of the former project in charge. The report says that on the fateful night at around 8

PM the man had a severe coronary thrombosis attack. The blood circulation to the

brain cells stopped and the biological death took place at around 8:15PM.

Sushil was struck at the timings. How did he appeared half-an-hour after his death!

Suddenly Sushil realized that in the wired atmosphere when he went 2nd

time there

he suddenly appeared from nowhere. It was actually not him alive but him after death. His frenetic love for punctuality perhaps prompted him to honor his

commitment even after his death. After appearing as per commitment he left the

venue to go back to his next world.

Sushil sat down on the sofa.
