POLICY DILEMMAPolicy making isn’t as easy as it sounds. The obvious reforms may not turn out to be the obvious solution
for ‘your economy’. If the interest rates are hiked up then indeed inflation is targeted but what about other stakeholders, millions for whom now the external factors discourage them from getting into business? Or what if in the wake of giving an economy a push we go on reducing them instead? What policies prevent a country from a situation like Zimbabwe’s hundred trillion dollar
note or recession like the one US fell into? There goes the dilemma.
Growth has been a matter of primary importance for every modern day economy. But the path followed to achieve it is never a certain journey and perhaps make an economy tumble. Come figure where your policy decisions will land
you and we’ll test how well you can play with the strings of the economy!
ROUND 1: An online short case study round where you have to make value based judgments when you prescribe economic policies.
ROUND 2: Shortlisted teams will formulate policies; face an interrogation from the stakeholders involved and then contest elections. Policy draft to be sent by 26th January, 2016.
ROUND 3: Participants will be allocated budgets and they will have to trade as government agents and make the best possible call for their economy after figuring out the opportunity cost of investing in one thing over the other. They will have to now bring their
policies into action in this round.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
• Policy Draft will have to be sent a day by 26th January, 2016 and should not exceed
1500 words.• Each team shall be given 3 minutes to
give the Electoral Speech in round 2.
