2016 ReviewInterns • 18 FAME member companies hosted over 100 student interns during the Summer

of 2016• Hailing from high schools, community colleges, and four year colleges, these

workers had the benefit of learning on‐site and will be future assets to our workforce pipeline.

Tours • FAME member companies toured over 500 students, teachers, counselors and

parents through their facilities in 2016.• FAME is an active participant in Finger Lakes Works With Their Hands,

Manufacturing Day, MCC’s High‐Tech Exploration Night, and numerous other career fairs and manufacturing events throughout the year.

Education • FAME members have supported US FIRST LEGO teams for the last eight years, and

2016 Review SAME East Side – 12 Grads

• Summer 2016 marked the expansion of the SAME –Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience – to the east side of the Finger Lakes region!

• Made possible by a grant from the AT&T Aspire Foundation, and partners Monroe Community College and WFL BOCES

• The program was located at the WFL BOCES Williamson and Stanley locations.

• Tours at Harbec, Optimax Systems and OptiPro Systems. Participating students (9th and 10th graders), had the opportunity to experience first‐hand advanced manufacturing skills and earn 3 free college credits through MCC

2016 ReviewSAME West Side – 18 Grads

• SAME west‐side program graduated 18 studentsand had nearly 100% attendance.

• Students toured Harbec, Micro Instruments, Optimax Systems, Parlec, SPX, Sydor Optics, The Gleason Works, and MCC’s Applied Tech Center.

• Many of the students advanced through the projects with little help from the SAME staff, and there were many applicants to choose from as this program has grown in scope and size each year!

• Four of the students in this program were female, and the graduation ceremony was held at MCC’s Applied Technology Center. Students in this program also earned 3 free college credits through MCC.

A terrific turnout for both programs—and planning is already underway for 2017!
