Dear valued customers,As we enter a new decade, we are reminded of the challenges we faced last year. A difficult economy led to many tough decisions and caused many companies to re-think the way they do business.

As we contemplate our approach to 2010, it is even more evident that a business strategy which includes a plan for growth will be more effective than one that is created simply for survival.

Winkle Electric has embraced this philosophy by constantly searching for opportunities to help our clients grow. Our Integrated Services Division is one of the key components of our clients’ success. This specialized division uses a three-pronged approach: predict, prevent and react—a strategy that has helped many clients enter into 2010 confident about the state of their operations.

As we work with our clients to become more efficient and maximize the return on their net assets, we are hopeful for the coming year. We help implement a sound business strategy that incorporates every aspect of day-to-day operations while keeping an eye on the big picture—key to their long-term success. We are pleased to be able to help you, our valued customers, not just survive, but flourish in this and many years to come.

Best wishes to you and your families.Your friends at Winkle ElectricCompany, Inc.

BEyOND PRODUCTSProviding solutions

Winkle provides solutions that go beyond providing top-quality products. We equate your costs to an iceberg. The part that is showing is the most easily seen and often times the easiest to remedy—your material costs. For many of our customers we are delving “under the water” to help spot problems and offer solutions to lower costs in areas that don’t have catalog numbers.

Our “under water” analysis includes anything you can think of related to the purchase, design, implementation, use, maintenance and retirement of a project or process. We refer to this as the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and will collaborate with your team to identify possible areas for improvement.

Contact us if you’d like to devise an action plan to maximize your return on net assets.

MEET ThE TEAM Justine scottAfter spending 20 years in various accounting positions, Justine was happy to join the Winkle team as the company’s administrative assistant this past July. She has a great sense of dedication and company loyalty. When asked to comment on her new position Justine said, “I have always taken great pride in my work and strive to do my best on any assignment I am given.” Justine is a mother of two teenagers, Ryan and Kathryn. She spends most of her free time devoted to supporting her children. “All in all, I would say I am very blessed.” We’re please to have Justine join our team.

FactoryTalk View Me softwareFactorytalk view me and panelview plus programming class ccv204

If part of your job is creating FactoryTalk ME applications for use on a PanelView Plus terminal, this course is a can’t-miss. Attendees will gain skills required to prepare a PanelView Plus terminal for operation, establish communications using RSLinx Enterprise software and use FactoryTalk ME software to create and animate graphics, as well as configure alarms, trends and security. Advanced skills such as configuring global objects and working with the RecipePlus system will also be covered. Students will practice downloading FactoryTalk ME applications to a PanelView Plus terminal.

The skills gained in this course can also be applied to FactoryTalk ME applications that run directly on a Windows computer or a VersaView CE industrial computer.

Join us January 19-22, 2010 at the Winkle Training Center in Youngstown. Tuition is $1,825 per attendee. Please contact Justine Scott for class details, 330-744-5303.

DATALOGICLaser Marking systems: V-Lase, Green-Lase anduV-Lase

Datalogic’s innovative Laser Marking Systems are flexible and dependable.

Products include the V-Lase, a DPSS air-cooled laser source @ 1064nm with excellent beam quality. Best results are obtained on steel, titanium, aluminum (bare, anodized or coated) and plastics such as ABS, PP, PES, PET and PVC.

The Green-Lase 4W and 10W laser sources operate on the Lase platform and use Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) in an intracavity architecture, which maximizes LBO non-linear crystal conversion efficiency. The Green-Lase wavelength results in a lower heat-affected zone as opposed to an infrared laser. This is effective when marking applications involving materials such as plastics that do not interact with the original infrared wavelength, as well as with semiconductors such as silicon (e.g. wafer marking).

The UV laser source exploits the extensive experience and success of the DPSS family and is based on the mechanic optical architecture of Third Harmonic Generation (THG). The extra-cavity technology allows high-efficiency conversion of the LBO non-linear crystal and compactness of the laser source. The UV-Lase wavelength produces less mechanical distortion and fewer heat affected zones (HAZ) in comparison with longer laser radiations.

new products & serv icesAMCIsD17060 e ethernet/IP stepper Motor Indexer/Drive

Convenience, flexibility and ease of programming all make AMCI’s SD17060E Stepper Indexer/Driver for the Ethernet/IP network the ideal choice for your applications.

Because the indexer is built right into the driver eliminating the need for a separate stepper controller in your Allen-Bradley PLC, your stepper control system costs are reduced. Programming and configuration over the network uses standard Logix commands through RSLogix500 or RSLogix5000, streamlining the process. No extra software is required, eliminating the need to learn another programming language.

AMCI’s SD17060E scores high marks for flexibility. Adding stepper axes where needed on an Ethernet/IP network is a snap—simply plug in another SD17060E and configure your network.

Besides connectivity with Ethernet/IP, AMCI’s SD17060E boasts several features over conventional stepper drivers. The varistep velocity control provides unsurpassed performance independent of the user’s configured resolution, and smoothness is guaranteed even at the lowest resolutions. Plus, a narrow and compact design saves space, and versatile mounting options allow for panel or side installation.

PRO-SOFT TEChNOLOGyIntelligent Cellular ethernet Gateway and serial Modems

ProSoft Technology’s® new Intelligent Cellular Ethernet Gateway (RLXIC-EH) and Serial Modems (RLXIC-SV, RLXIC-SG are designed to provide wide connection area and even global wireless connectivity for industrial devices.

Intelligent Cellular Gateways utilize the existing cellular infrastructure to connect devices across geographically diverse locations and the RadioLinx® Intelligent Cellular Gateways can also be used to connect devices through the Internet to one or more locations.

Intelli-ArcDiagnostic Tool

SIEMENSIntelli-Arc Diagnostic Tool

Diagnosing the cause of AFCI trips can be confusing, but the new Intelli-Arc Diagnostic Tool and the unique trip indicators built into every Siemens AFCI can help electricians pinpoint the fault that caused the breaker to trip. The new diagnostic device makes it easier to troubleshoot AFCI circuits by improving troubleshooting accuracy and reducing the number of visits to the problem site. This diagnostic tool can be used with any circuit breaker, regardless of brand.

Currently AFCI protection devices only monitor and protect branch circuits in the home against arc faults. Although the LEDs on the Siemens Combination Type AFCIs can help to point an electrician in the right direction, the AFCIs do not pinpoint the portion of the branch circuit that contained the fault. Arc faults are often intermittent, which can make troubleshooting the branch circuit very difficult.

The Siemens Intelli-Arc Diagnostic Tool helps to accurately determine the circuit in which a fault has occurred. When used in conjunction with good troubleshooting techniques, this tool enables the electrical contractor to determine and locate the root cause or source of the fault. The device also provides information including the type and magnitude of the fault.

This diagnostic tool from Siemens is an invaluable addition to your arsenal.
