Here we are in the new year of 2017 and it’salready nearly Valentine’s Day! For those ofyou looking ahead on the calendar, thisyear’s February general meeting at Piccolo’swill be on Valentine’s Day, so bring your fa-vorite beau and we’ll sit back and enjoy theannual Year in Review slide show being pre-pared for us by Ray Horrall!

As the calendar marches on, our events andactivities for the year are beginning to takeshape. I want to thank Don Leach, TeresaRoss and Brian Redrupp for stepping up andworking together to bring us our first drivingevent of the year, the annual Dust Off on Sat-urday, May 20. I know Don already has somethoughts on potential routes and more detailwill come on that later. Be sure to include iton your event calendar for May.

And don’t forget to register for the annualPresident’s Dinner on Saturday, March 25.This year’s version will be at the WellshireEvent Center at Colorado Blvd. and HampdenAvenue. See the story in this newsletter onpage 7 for more details.

As you all are aware, 2017 marks the 50thAnniversary of the founding of the RockyMountain Jaguar Club and we will mark thisoccasion throughout the year at variousevents, and among those will be at the Presi-dent’s Dinner. So don’t pass on this opportu-nity to celebrate 50 years of not onlypromoting the Jaguar brand but of enjoyingthe social camaraderie that comes with clubmembership.

If you are one tothink ahead, reallyahead, preliminaryplans are begin-ning to take shapefor the club’s an-nual Holiday Party( I know it was only last month.) The 2017version will be on Saturday, December 9, atthe Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club, nearE470 & Gartrell Rd. More detail on that later, but the obvious difference this year is that theparty will not be held at a hotel. However, there will be a Marriott property 2.5 milesaway that will offer us club discounted rates,so keep that in mind. Our venue for the partywill be a large and luxurious ballroom with aplated meal and cash bar which is our cus-tom.

And if you are a judge or would like to be-come one, pencil these dates in for the annu-al judges’ schools, Saturday, April 15, andSaturday, May 13. Both will be at HagertyInsurance, 1010 Johnson Rd. in Golden.

Keep a smile on your face, you’re driving aJaguar!

The meeting was called to order by president Dwight Eisnach at 7:30.

Shawn Bowman brought a prospective member, Evan Herald, to the meeting. He has an XK 150 FHCthat his father used to bring Evan and his mother home from the hospital when he was born.Josh David, another new member, moved to Denver from San Antonio where he bought a ‘64 E-TypeFHC, joined us before dinner but had to leave early. He is looking forward to participating in club activi-ties.

The evening’s program presentation was byVictoria Sahami, owner of Sirius Travel, who told us aboutthe eclipse event that will occur on August 21st. She is anastronomer whose company specializes in hosting trips tothe best worldwide locations for seeing the eclipse. A solareclipse occurs when the moon blocks the sun. A “totaleclipse” happens only when you are in the focal point of themoons shadow. The “diamond ring” effect is when the lastpiece of sunlight is shining through one of the deep moun-tain valleys on the moon and makes a bright sparkle on thering of light around the sun.

You have to protect your eyes when looking at the sun ex-cept when the total sunlight is blocked; Sirius travel providesblocking glasses and a picnic lunch as part of their service. The total eclipse lasts two minutes and 40 seconds and apartial eclipse occurs for about one hour before and afterthe short period of total eclipse. Their tour bus will take usto a location just south of Douglas, WY to view the event.

The cost is $200 per person and is fullyrefundable up until May 1st. The 55person buses they use have WiFi andtoilets. We need to be at the Denverpick-up early as the bus will leave Den-ver at 5 am. The meeting location isusually at a shopping mall or park-and-ride where there is lots of parking andclose to a hotel for those wanting tocome in from out of town. Be sure towear long pants and closed-toe shoesas the viewing site is on a WY ranch. To make reservations, go tohttp://siriustravel.com.

This owner so-loved his Jaguar thathe put a sweater on the leaper.

But that’s not a normal habitat for aJaguar!

Two Love StoriesEdiitors note: This story was sent to me by aRMJC member. I do not know if there is evena bit of truth in it but have shared it with sev-eral others and invariably it has been re-ceived with a smile.

It’s also a love story of sorts.

********************************************On a bitterly cold winter morning a hus-band and wife in Dublin were listening tothe radio during breakfast.

They heard the announcer say,"We are going to have 8 to 10 inches ofsnow today. You must park your caron the even-numbered side of thestreet, so the snow plows can getthrough."So the good wife went out and moved thecar.

A week later while they are eating break-fast again, the radio announcer said,We are expecting 10 to 12 inches ofsnow today. You must park your caron the odd-numbered side of thestreet, so the snow plows can getthrough."The good wife went out and moved hercar again.

The next week they are again havingbreakfast, when the radio announcersays,"We are expecting 12 to 14 inches ofsnow today. You must park...."

Then the electric power went out and theradio went dead! The good wife was very upset, and with aworried look on her face she said, "I don'tknow what to do.Which side of the street do I need to parkon so the snow plows can get through?"

Then with the love and understanding inhis voice that all men who are married toblondes exhibit, the husband replied,"Why don't you just leave the car in thegarage this time."
