Aligned with NMR target but more ambitious change neededStill NOT MENTIONED in any SDG document…

Also ending preventable stillbirths

In  low  income  countries  the  major  challenge  is  s>ll  survival  BUT  in  middle  income  countries  disability  is  increasing

Must  track  and  minimise  disability  as  we  scale  up  more  complex  neonatal  care

Beyond  newborn  survival    The  world  you  are  born  into  determines  your  survival  and  your  risk  of  disability

Conclusion:  How  will  the  ENAP  measurement  improvement  roadmap  be  opera:onalised?

§  MulG-‐partner  5  year  plan  to  meet  Every  Newborn  milestones  related  to  measurement  improvement  •  Improve  the  data  (validity,  feasibility  tesGng)  •  InsGtuGonalise  improved  metrics  at  scale  within  5  years    •  Increased  capacity  and  leadership

§  ENAP  metrics  coordinaGon  group  led  by  WHO  and  LSHTM  and  linked  to  WHO  MNH  Measurement  Expert  Reference  Group  •  AnGcipate  a  range  of  partnerships  and  investments  •  CIFF  have  made  a  major  3  year  investment  for

−  Facility  based  tesGng  in  two  countries  − MulGsite  research  with  INDEPTH  maternal  newborn  working  group

Opportunity  for  rapid  change  .....  BUT  also  need  more  rapid  change  and  support  for  people  to  use  data    and  lead  change  in  programmes  and  countries
