Lesson Two

Yes you can

change your life

Through affirmations, visualisations and meditation you create your own reality. Think of it as you are the weaver, you weave your thoughts and craft your own spirit song. This course content will be focusing on affirmations, visualisations and meditations, you will learn how to tap into the divine energy source and create your desired reality. Sound like fun? Well it is, once you learn the art of manifesting, affirmations will become a regular tool that you use in your day to day life. Throughout this course I use the term Divine Spirit, to depict a spiritual source. Where I use the term Divine Spirit, you may substitute for God, Consciousness, Buddha, Higher Self, I Am, Nature, or any other name you feel comfortable with.

Lesson Three

Every thought

has a vibration,

always be in control

of your thoughts

So like me, I bet many of you have read the book or seen the movie “The Secret”. I love this book, however I feel that it didn’t really create the change I needed. It planted the seed, but I still was unsure on whether I truly believed it, and honestly I didn’t know where to start. So lately I have been reading books by Louise Hay, Deepak Chopra and Dr. Wayne Dyer – and I finally got it. After all these years, I now believe without a moment of hesitation that we truly do create the life we live. We choose happiness, health, sadness, money, love, friends, success and everything else that life offers. If you are anything like me, then chances are you want to know the scientific reason behind ‘how affirmations actually work’. Everything in this universe is made up of energy, we are interconnected to everything with energy, and therefore we are all an extension of the divine energy that makes up the universe. This has been proven by scientists, and it is now a fact that the universe is a field of energy; or a force field.

Thoughts and emotions have certain vibratory rates about them, and will attract thoughts or emotions of a similar wavelength or vibration. A perfect example is where you may have been thinking about someone, then shortly after they call you on the phone. The energy of your thoughts has attracted a reciprocal wavelength. By choosing to only think positive and loving thoughts, you will attract people and events that hold a similar vibration. Or as the bible reminds us"…as you sow, so shall you reap." Alternatively this is what is now known as ‘the law of attraction’. The Law of Attraction has promise. However, it has been construed as a “get rich, healthy and in love” quick scheme. It would be utterly fabulous to think your way into the life of your dreams and to only take action when it is enjoyable. Now don’t get me wrong, because yes, creating your perfect life is as easy and simple as just thinking positive, however when you start the practice you will notice that some things come easy and others not so easy. I want to be upfront about this; I don’t want you to get so excited about doing your affirmations only to get disheartened when you haven’t seen immediate results. So why do some work almost instantly and others not? From my readings I have come to the conclusion that we are here on this earth to experience and learn, we are here to evolve and grow – and we can only do this through experiencing a combination of success and (so-called) failure. Let’s move straight past success, and focus on failure, for failure is a little harder to handle, for it is our perception of failure which makes us lose hope and give up. And in this case it is your perception of failure that will make you give up on your affirmations – I am here to tell you that this is the time you should never give up -for there is something big coming your way.

The universe is testing you and wanting to know how serious you are about manifesting your desire, therefore what appears to be misfortune, is in actual fact important lessons. They are the lessons you need to learn before you can manifest your desire. The quicker you can recognise these as lessons and learn from them, the quicker you will manifest your purpose. Things worth having require a certain level of knowledge and self-awareness, otherwise you won’t be able to hold onto them, they will just be fleeting. So when misfortune is happening around you, switch your perspective and look for the lessons or the beauty behind the event – the universe is only trying to get you prepared and ready – so that when you finally manifest it, you will have the ability to hold onto it.

Set yourself up for

success

Take the time to acknowledge, accept and become aware of these things, and you will find success. You need to:

Commit to doing your affirmations: Trust me, there will be mornings when you can’t be bothered to do them. There will be other times when things are rolling along perfectly that you don’t feel like you need affirmations. Commit to making affirmations a daily devotion, do it for the rest of your life. Affirmations are not a quick fix, they are a lifestyle change.

Accept that you won’t always be positive: Part of the human experience is going through tough times, unfortunately they are unavoidable. Feeling like you have to be positive 100% of the time is unrealistic. Pressuring yourself to only “think positive thoughts” will stress you out. If you are having a down day, allow yourself to feel the emotion and work on releasing it. It is important to live with emotional awareness, do regular emotional balance checks and learn positive coping methods on how to get your emotions back into balance. I always find going for a walk, Googling cute YouTube clips of baby animals, meditating, catching up with friends, talking to a counselor or reading some inspiring book works wonders for me. Learn to let go and surrender. Even though the sky is the limit and you can get whatever it is that you want, there will be times that life challenges you. After all…. life is life, and sometimes there is smooth sailing and sometimes the water gets rough. Learn to release your tight grip and look at the situation from another perspective, pretend you are at a window looking into your life. Just breathe in and on the exhale release any doubts or negativity. Then on the inhale ask to be shown the lesson. Surrender your fears and high expectations, look around and seek out the lesson – it is at this moment you will be shown the next door.

Expect challenges and accept where you are: No one has ever reached great success without failing a thousand times. Failure is the key to success – it is the only sure way to learn what works and what doesn’t. Don’t be so focused on the outcome; try to appreciate the present moment and what it is trying to teach you. Slow and steady always wins the race. As cliché as it sounds……it is not about the destination, it is about the journey.

Being aware of the energy you give out: The energy we transmit through our tone, body language, words and attitude can open doors or lock doors. If you have ever met a truly magnetic person, you’ll know what I mean. Their zest for life inspires others and draws supporters and friends. Also be aware when someone is trying to suck out your energy, visualise a pink bubble around you, protecting you from there toxic energy and attitude.

I love Dr. Wayne Dyer’s definition of the Law of Attraction. He says: “You don’t attract what you want. You attract what you are.” For instance, if you want to become an author, a good first step is to figure out how authors live, what their day is like, what their habits are… then live out that exact routine every day. Before Dr Wayne Dyer was a well known author, he had a book jacket printed off for his first book (before the book was written) and sat it on his desk, so that each day he would write, he sent out the intent that he was already a published author. Look where he is today! Modelling that same behaviour will put you on the path to becoming an author. Same goes for musician, actor, great parent, business owner, healthy person, or anything else you want to become.

Seed your day with positivity. The catch is that it has to be authentic. When you engage in activities and practices that help you to feel genuine positive emotions, you are making deposits in your success bank. Research has demonstrated that if you can experience 3 positive emotions for every one negative emotion, you will put yourself into position to expand your horizons and reach your goals.

Know the “Why?” When you discover why you want something, you can cultivate its benefits before you manifest it. For example, if you want a house, ask yourself “why?” You may answer for security, comfort, etc… Once you know that the house is only a by-product of feeling secure and beautiful, you can get busy observing beautiful things and building financial security long before you walk through the door of your dream home.

Lesson Five

Honour “I am” for it is

a divine creation – use it only positively.

My name is Claire and “I AM happy and healthy”. Notice how I introduced myself to you with ‘I am’. The I AM power is the healing power of the universe. It's the energy from which the universe is made, and it is also the foundation of what we and everything around us is made of. The I AM power can be experienced as a divine spirit, bliss, unity, God or as a deep sense of love or as enlightenment.

The power of I AM is infinite, it will heal and transform every aspect of your life. All religious paths are built upon I AM. God is often known as the I AM. I Am that I Am is an English translation of the response God used in the Hebrew Bible when Moses asked for his name (Exodus 3:14).

God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I

AM. This is what you are to say to

the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to

you. "God also said to Moses, "Say

This is my name forever, the name

by which I am to be remembered

from generation to generation.

The words I AM, which you use on a

daily basis to define who you are

and what you are capable of, are

holy expressions for the name of

God—for God resides within you, as

you. Discontinue using negative

beliefs and thoughts after I AM, and

choose to honour your divine self,

this is when the true miracles start

to happen.

If you are sick you should say "I AM

the power of healing, and I AM

healing myself now." Or, "I AM

healthy”. By using the powerful

words of I AM, you will connect to

the universe, tap into your own

healing power and be able to talk to

the divine spirit or God. I AM will

open the doors so that pure and

radiant energy flows into your life.

How we finish the sentence that

begins with “I am” makes all the

difference in the life we create for

ourselves and how close or far away

we are from the divine spirit within

us.

Try meditating on the words I AM,

sit down in a quiet place and pay

attention to your breathing. Say "I"

on the inhale and "AM" on the

exhale, every now and then bring

yourself back to the "I AM”.

Lesson Six

Realise your own

divine potential –

you can have

anything you dream

Imagine that you were given a miraculous gift, the gift of receiving absolutely everything you asked for. How amazing would your life be? Happiness would be yours forever. Well I have a little secret for you; you do have that special gift available to you. It’s called Affirmations. Affirmations create the life you want. Just like a writer, affirmations start off by one or two sentences, then over two or three months the affirmations evolve into a chapter of small changes and then after a year of affirmations a life filled with positive changes has been created.

Affirmations are powerful tools. By changing your perception, you change your reality.

It all starts with the thoughts you think. These thoughts become your feelings, these feelings become your vibration and your vibration ultimately becomes your life. It is your vibration that determines whether you are attracting what you want into your life or not. Change your thought patterns which in return change the chemistry of your life, body and mind. It’s really as simple as claiming what you want and watching it slowly manifest over time.

Live each moment as if your affirmation was already a reality.

Daily affirmations are a daily ritual for me. Ever since I have started writing my own personal affirmations I have noticed a huge positive change in my life. I usually wake up and say my affirmation at least three times and then I will repeat it in my mind throughout the day. It is important to visualise your affirmation, how does it feel to have it? Visualise how all your senses feel if you had your affirmation come true today? Live today as if your affirmation was true? This is a very important step, as it creates a different viewpoint and thinking pattern, the universe and your mind is now thinking this is your truth, and it will manifest it for you over time

Your thoughts are a reflection of your own inner truth

Every thought you think, every word you say is constantly creating your life and experiences… The beliefs we hold about ourselves or the world around us are just learned patterns that we have developed over time. Some of our beliefs may work well for us, however many are negative. Negative beliefs and thoughts are sabotaging our life and stopping us from getting what we want. Every thought we think or say is a reflection of our own inner truth or core beliefs.

Retrain your mind.

Our subconscious uses the behaviour patterns we have learned to automatically respond and react too many everyday events in our life – for example how many times have you created some way out story in your head about why someone has not called you back, only to find out that they lost your number. Unfortunately many of the negative beliefs we hold about ourselves or the world have been ingrained within us for many years, so it can be very hard to stop believing them. Whether you’re negative beliefs are caused by other people’s opinions or through your own life experiences – always remember that it is only your perspective on the situation, choose to see the glass half full instead. Take what you learned from the situation and how you became a better person from the experience. Choose to be the hero of your own story.

Start by unlocking these emotions by repeating positive affirmations every day. I like to wake up to an affirmation; I feel that it is a great way to start the day. I generally open my eyes and say my affirmation; I then do my yoga and focus on my breath and affirmation. I have a vision board in my study and I hang little notes around my house. It is all subtle ways of reprogramming my mind and keeping positive. Find what works for you and stick with it – I promise you will see fantastic results within a day or two.

Resistance or acceptance By choosing to think and say positive affirmations, the subconscious mind is forced into one of two reactions – resistance or acceptance. The bigger the issue, then the bigger the gap between the positive affirmation and the perceived inner truth, and the more likely that one is going to experience resistance. This is where the subconscious finds it easier to stay with its perceived inner truth. You will recognise this reaction by a strong negative feeling inside as you state the positive affirmations. Equally if your experience a sense of joy and wellbeing, your mind is instinctively responding to something it believes to be true. When you get this emotion, you know your affirmations are working! Continually repeating affirmations with conviction and passion will work at breaking down the resistance wall. Once the resistance is broken, your subconscious is able to re-evaluate the core belief and patterns you have been working on and replace it with your own new inner truth.

Affirmations actually reprogram your thought patterns, they change the way you think and feel about things. By sending out positive thoughts and energy into the universe, you will attract positivity and abundance into your own life. This will start to reflect in your everyday life, you will start to experience miraculous changes for the better in every aspect of your life. From day one, there will be affirmations you love and enjoy saying, these affirmations are likely to be very effective for you and you are likely to start experiencing changes almost immediately. Other affirmations will feel very negative to you, almost like a big lie, this indicates resistance and these core beliefs will take longer to change. How quickly you can resolve an issue like this is like asking how long is a piece of string. It depends on the issue, how deeply the belief is held and how determined you are to bring about change in that area of your life. If you are truly ready and want to make changes, the quicker those changes will come for you. People have made changes in their beliefs almost instantaneously, once you are prepared to embrace and accept a change and you believe it to be right for you from your very heart, then that change will happen. So it is not really a question of time, more a question of how accepting of change you can be. Affirmations are more than just repeating words. It is a whole process of becoming aware of your thoughts and words in everyday life, choosing to think and project happy positive thoughts. The more you can consciously inject the spirit of you affirmations into your daily thoughts and words, the quicker they will work for you.

So how do you tap into the

Divine Spirit and start creating

a life you love?

Well its really simple….just like a magic genie; tell the universe what you want. You can say it in affirmations, write it down, do a visual board, meditate on it, pray or journal it. Make sure you use only positive statements, don’t use words such as When I….or I want…. Instead choose to use words to describe having it today. For example say I am….or I have…… Then start to visualise having the one thing you want… feel the emotions you would have if your wish was to become a reality now or if you were living your dream life today. Visualise how would it feel, smell, taste? Imagine what your daily life would look like, and then put yourself and all your senses within the scene. By thinking and feeling this, you are sending out positive vibes along with your intent out into the universe. You are now setting the dream into motion. Ok so that is the easy part, sometimes life may throw you a curveball or two or ten or a hundred…this is where you must continue doing your affirmations and visualisations, this is the time to not give up, as your reward is only around the corner – you just don’t know when…Remember what I said earlier, it is when times get tough that something big is around the corner. Surrender to the universe and believe you are being shown what you need …for there is a rhyme and a reason behind everything we experience and feel.

You Create Your Own Reality. Every thought you think, every word you say is constantly creating your life and experiences. How? Your beliefs and hence your thoughts create your perspective and how you view the world. Change your thoughts and beliefs and change your view of the world. Create Opportunities. Negative thoughts sabotage your life – they close doors and stop you from getting what you want. Live with positivity and the doors will open and opportunities will come to you on a daily basis. Remember your world is as you think it is – it’s all in your perspective. Reprogram Your Negative Thoughts. Your subconscious uses the behaviour patterns that you have learned to automatically respond and react to everyday events in your life – for example how many times have you created some way out story in your head about why someone has not called you back, only to find out that they lost your number. Unfortunately many of the negative beliefs we hold about ourselves or the world have been ingrained within us for many years, so it can be very hard to stop believing them. Start by unlocking these emotions by repeating positive affirmations every day.

Breaks Down The Walls. When you have negative beliefs, you are limited in life, for big negative walls block positivity – you need to break down those walls with a little positive ammo. By choosing to think and say positive affirmations, the subconscious mind is forced into one of two reactions – resistance or acceptance. The bigger the issue, then the bigger the gap between the positive affirmation and the perceived inner truth, and the more likely that you are going to experience resistance. These are then the thoughts you must focus on – the harder the affirmation is to say then the more sabotaging the negative core belief is. Time, patience and consistency are what will break down the wall and free you. Once you start experiencing a sense of joy and wellbeing when saying your affirmations, then you know your affirmations have planted a seed. You Get More Of What You Focus On. The universe brings to you what you focus on. As the saying goes “where your focus goes, your energy flows”. A perfect example of this is: a man was confused why his affirmations were not working, his affirmation was “I want to be financially free and happy in my career” his focus was on the WANT…the universe gave him what he wanted – TO LIVE IN A STATE OF CONSTANT WANT. A more effective affirmation would have been “I have a successful career and I am financially free” That is why it is so important to focus on the small things you are grateful for in your life. When you focus on the good, you attract good.

So are you ready to create some miracles? Start by taking some time to think about areas in your life that you would like to improve and how you might want your life to be. It is worth taking some time over this process. Write the most important ones down in a list. Now look at each item on the list and write out a few positive statements for each. They must be positive and in the present tense, focus on what you do want, not on what you don’t want. For example if my list of things that were important to me included… “A fulfilling job” My affirmation might look like this “I have a wonderful job that fulfils me on many levels”

Creating your own affirmations is the perfect way to get the right affirmations for you. I have included a few further samples below. A great way of keeping your affirmation at the forefront of your mind is to write them down, leave notes or cards around your home so that you notice them throughout the day. Another idea is to write your affirmation down many times (10-20), this helps imprint it on your mind. Believe your affirmations, the higher your emotional state is as you say them, the more effective they are. Something you may like to do is download a podcast or buy a CD that has affirmations on it…my personal favourite is Deepak Chopra. I often listen to this when I am traveling or going for my morning walk.

Create your own personal mantra or affirmation today. Affirmations are more than just repeating words. It is a whole process of becoming aware of your thoughts and words in everyday life. Make the commitment from today forward to only think and project happy positive thoughts. The more you can consciously inject the spirit of your affirmations into your daily thoughts and words, the quicker they will work for you. I like to wake up to an affirmation; I feel that it is a great way to start the day. I generally open my eyes and say my affirmation; I then do my yoga and focus on my breath and affirmation. I have a vision board in my study and I hang little notes around my house. It is all subtle ways of reprogramming my mind and keeping positive. Find what works for you and stick with it – I promise you will see fantastic results within a day or two.

Daily Worksheet Self-Love and gratitude makes you feel good….And it paves the path to becoming whatever it is you want to become. Do you drown yourself in negative thoughts and self-doubts? Do you feel guilty for something you ate? Or maybe you don’t believe that you deserve that promotion at work? No one should have self-doubts, it is your birth right to feel fabulous and worthy, it is your birth right to have whatever it is that you crave. With a little work you can stop those self-limiting beliefs now. It won’t happen overnight, however once you make that shift in perception, things will start changing fast and miracles will start occurring in your daily life. I am going to give you a little free tool today. It is one of the daily worksheets from the Everyday Miracles e-course. I originally made the worksheet to stomp out my own negative thoughts, for I had read up on the benefits of writing down positive thoughts and mantras. So I tested this little worksheet out, and within days…yes days…my outlook on life changed and miracles where dropping from the sky. I was making my own transformation into happiness and contentment; I finally started to build a life I loved. I left the worksheet in my bathroom, in my car, on my fridge – and I even started writing my daily affirmations on my mirror. This stuff truly works. My days were immediately transformed! After reading the affirmation or the love list hanging on my mirror, I would jump in the shower and think about all the things that I’m grateful for, and then excitedly I would go about my day with a fresh and bright outlook. Simply right click in the work sheet and ‘save as’, and start on your own journey of magnificence and miracles. This worksheet will work wonders for those moments when you feel that old familiar feeling of self-doubt come knocking on your door again, lurking around the dark corners, ready to jump on you expectantly. Most of the worksheet is self-explanatory, but one section deserves special attention:

Three feelings I want to practice today. First, identify how you would like to feel today. Happiness? Healthy? Abundant? Write the feelings down and then spend up to a minute practicing each feeling.

The idea behind it is that when you practice a specific feeling, you attract experiences into your life that produce the same feeling. One method to practice a feeling is to close your eyes and visualise yourself experiencing the feeling. Feel the sensation in your body. For example, I often want to feel creative inspiration. So I close my eyes and picture how I behave when I am inspired – I’m bouncing all over the place, often typing frantically, smiling heaps and feeling connected to the source. The important thing is that you actually feel the emotion during the exercise.

This principle applies to when you come to write down your daily affirmation – take a moment to visualise the affirmation coming true and put yourself in the scene – feel what it feels like to live your affirmation, then throughout the day, take a few mindful moments and try and feel those emotions again.

Say it in present tense: You must say your affirmation in present tense – for the universe gives you want you ask for. For example if you say “I want” or “I will” you will always be waiting for your affirmation to come true, the universe will think that your wish is to be in a constant state of “want”. You need to say “I am” or “I have”.

Use positive language: Avoid any negative language at all, you need to ask for what you want – not for want you want to avoid. Affirm what you do want, rather than what you do not want. For example; "I don't want to be ill." This is a negative statement. Rather affirm; "I am healthy and full of energy”, for this statement is much more powerful as it is positive and reinforces your wish.

Be short and to the point: Short affirmations are easy to say and are much clearer to understand. The short punchy lines are easier to remember and have a bigger impact on the subconscious mind, than those which are long and wordy. Keeping affirmations short and specific keeps the message clear- it avoids any miscommunication.

Repeat, Repeat and Repeat: Affirmations must be repeated in order to leave an imprint not only on your subconscious mind, but one within the universe also. Say them when you wake up, go to bed and leave messages on your phone, diary and vision board. Another great idea is to make it your Facebook tag line or status. The more you see it and say it – the more energy and intent you put behind it. Affirmations build a big ball of positive energy, repeating them often keeps the momentum rolling and growing.

Feel your affirmation: When you say and think about your affirmation – feel and visualise what it would feel like to have it come true today. Pretend you are living your wish already. This really adds oomph behind the affirmation, the universe picks up on the vibrations….remember what was said earlier – what you put out comes back to you.

Persistence: Persistence is the key here. Some affirmations will come easy and some not so easy. You need to keep saying and affirming them, especially when things seem hopeless. Keep building that big ball of positive energy – for with patience and time, the good vibrations will roll your way – Trust me!

Belief: : You don't necessarily have to believe your affirmations initially, in fact you are bound to be a little sceptical at first. Be easy on yourself, try to believe them if you can – however what is more important is to just keep repeating them. I never did believe my first affirmations, however with constant repetition – I found them easier to believe. Belief will grow with your forthcoming successes.

Personalise your affirmations: Your affirmations must feel right to you – this is why I recommend writing your own. The stronger the feeling an affirmation conveys, the deeper the impression it makes on your mind, and the sooner you will experience positive results.

I like to do other positive self-talk and affirming techniques alongside my affirmations. Doing these extra things will amp up your positive vibrations and get the universe firing back positive ammo your way.

Here are three ways that I like to add positive self-talk into my life, I hope they inspire you to do the same.

Meditating Time to get your Om on and meditate. If the thought of meditating conjures up the thought of a pot-bellied Buddha, incense, and an eccentric hippie wearing tie dye, then drop that thought now. Create a new vision. Meditation is the way to calm the soul. . Meditate and you will discover, over-think and over-analyse and you will never find. Meditation is the chance to quieting your mind and listen to the whispers of your soul. Meditation allows you to connect with yourself and everything around you. This is the perfect time to ask questions and send intents into the universe. Meditate on your affirmation and send it out into the universe.

Vision Boards Hang your vision board up in your home. You need to look at the board several times a day, and truly feel the sensation of what it would feel like to have the dream manifested. Live the joy, happiness, abundance, relief and gratitude for those few moments. Trust me, you will start seeing changes in your life very quickly…and never forget that every thought and emotion you have is creating your future. The general elements that a well-designed vision board should include are:

Visual. Your subconscious mind works in pictures and images, so make your vision board as visual as possible with as many pictures as you can. You can supplement your pictures with words and phrases to increase the emotional response you get from it.

Emotional. Each picture on your vision board should evoke a positive emotional response from you. The mere sight of your

vision board should make you happy and fuel your passion to achieve it every time you look at it.

Strategically-placed. Your vision board should be strategically placed in a location that gives you maximum exposure to it. You need to constantly bath your subconscious mind with it’s energy in order to manifest your desires quicker than you hope.

Personal. Negative feelings, self-doubt, and criticism can damage the delicate energy that your vision board emits. If you fear criticism or justification of your vision board from others, then place it in a private location so it can only be seen by yourself.

Journaling Sometimes it is hard to sit still and quieten the mind with all the noise and chatter of your ego and the outside world. To connect with yourself try journaling your thoughts or just writing random thoughts. Don’t judge or overthink the process, just go with the flow and let your soul be expressed through the written words on the paper. If you are really struggling for words, then sit and write your affirmation down twenty times. If the words are negative, let them out, keep writing until you can’t write anymore – then rewrite the words in a more positive story. Retell your story in a positive way. Bonus tip: Sometimes if you are looking for an answer, the answer often reveals itself in your writing.
