What Makes ColdForm2™ So Unique?

COLDFORM2™ IS ESP’S FLAGSHIP NATURAL HIGH-TECHSORBENT LINE. In 2006, the signs began emerging that risingoil prices would lead customers to look for an alternative to

traditional meltblown sorbents. Meltblown, the traditional

mainstay of the industry, was becoming too expensive.

At ESP we recognized the need to develop a more cost-

effective alternative. As a result, in 2007 we launched

ColdForm™ – the industry’s first high-performance oil-only

and universal alternative sorbent.

Since that time, the line has undergone significant upgrades,

making it now an industry standard. Now called ColdForm2™, it

has grown to include four very different families – Bonded

Natural, Single-sided Laminated, Laminated and Fine Fiber –

offering sorbents for a range of applications.

ColdForm2™ provides more than price stability and a lower

cost alternative to meltblown. It offers customers a less

expensive and more effective solution while also reducing their

dependence on oil-based products.

COLDFORM2™

COLDFORM2™ BONDED NATURALWHITE OIL-ONLY are versatile pads madealmost entirely of American-grown natural

fibers. This makes them the ideal product

when looking for the most environ mentally

responsible and economical sorbent.

And they absorb up to 25% more oil and

oil-based liquids than most comparable

polypropylene sorbents.

These products are constructed from a

single layer of extremely fine natural fibers

that are point-bonded together, making them

very soft. Their high loft, drapability and

durability make them very versatile.

White oil-only pads and rolls are treated

with our proprietary blend of additives to

maximize water repulsion, flame resistance

and protection against molds and other

microbes. What’s more, they are:

AT ESP, WE KNOW THAT ALL MELTBLOWN IS NOT CREATEDEQUAL. There are a couple of very different technologies used tomanufacture this industry mainstay. Exxon Technology is, by far,

the superior system and is considered the industry standard for

meltblown. At ESP, we use this technology exclusively.

While meltblown (polypropylene) sorbents produced by

various manufacturers may all look quite similar, they are not.

Just as with cars, they all perform differently. Take a high-end

sports car for example and compare its performance to that of a

SPILL CLEAN-UP TIPS A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO SPILL RESPONSESafeguard the health and safety of personnel, the environment andworkplace by complying with all regulations and workplace spill procedures.

1. Assess the RiskThe first step is to identify the liquid that spilled. This willtell you how serious a threat it poses and what precautionsneed to be taken. Each ESP spill kit contains a guide onhow to identify and clean up spills.

2. Select Appropriate Protective GearGloves and goggles are standard protection for manytypes of spills. Be sure to protect your hands, eyes andskin. For more aggressive spills, a full HazMat suit maybe required. If toxic fumes are present, use a ventilator.ESP spill kits contain goggles and gloves. Remember: If you can’t identify the spilled substance,treat it as highly toxic and unsafe.

3. Contain the SpillUse ESP absorbent socks found in each spill kit tocontain the spill and keep it from spreading orcontaminating water sources.

4. Stop the Flow of the SpillAct quickly and safely to stop the source of spilledmaterial to minimize the impact of the spill.

5. Clean-up the SpillCarefully and thoroughly clean up the spill using theappropriate sorbents.

6. Dispose and DecontaminateDispose of all used sorbents and other contaminatedmaterials according to company standards, as well as alllocal, state and federal regulations. If necessary,decontaminate the site, personnel and equipment.

OIL-ONLY RAIL MATS are manufactured by ESP. Using our owntechnologies, we are able to add extra durability and absorbency.

This tough and very durable railroad mat offers a heavy-duty, oil-

only absorbent barrier to protect railway yards and other transportation

facilities from oil leaks.

These mats are constructed using three layers bonded together. The

top layer is black UV stabilized needle punch. The middle layer is

composed of white oil-only meltblown or white oil-only ColdForm2™.

The base consists of a heavy white plastic layer that prevents oil spills

from leaking through into the ground.

The entire laminate is then needle punched, which guarantees an

even release of rainwater through the fabric while trapping oils.

single layer of synthetic fibers that are then heavily needle punched

and heat set. Extremely tough, these needle punch pads and rolls are

tough enough to withstand forklift and foot traffic.

UNIVERSAL RAG RUG is made from

recycled fibers. Pound-for-pound and dollar-

for-dollar, it offers one of the most

absorbent products anywhere. It is

constructed from a single layer of natural

and synthetic fibers that is then carefully

needle-punched and heat-set.

PILLOWS, DRIP PANS AND CRUMBLE DRIP PANS

NET BAG PILLOWS

PILLOWS are used to absorb leaks too largefor a pad. These multi-purpose items are ideal

for plant maintenance. Their large surface

area provides fast wicking and shortens clean-

up time. Use them in tight spaces, such as

under machines and leaky hydraulic hoses,

and in cramped corners.

DRIP PANS are a great method for containinglarger quantities of liquids. The oil-only pans

have drains for water so that only oil-based

liquids are captured. Universal pans do not

have drains. These drip pans allow for the

replacement of the pillow, unlike the crumble

pans. Replacement pillows are sold separately.

CRUMBLE DRIP PANS contain particulateinstead of a pillow. The all-in-one covered

pan prevents any direct contact with the

saturated sorbents inside. Once the pan is

saturated, there is no need to handle a

soaked pillow. Simply dispose of the

whole item.

OIL-ONLY NET BAG PILLOWS, sometimescalled onion-sack pillows, contain chopped

poly sorbents. They are great for placing in

hard-to-reach places, such as deep sump holes.

Simply toss these sorbent bags into the hole or

other awkward space. Then when it comes

time to replace them, just hook onto the

looped handles at one end of the bag to

remove it. They are also flexible enough to

shape themselves easily into tight spaces.

PARTICULATE – MELTBLOWNMELTBLOWN PARTICULATE is a versatilesorbent. Our loose 100% pure polypropylene

particulate is ideal for retrieving viscous oils

and can be spread over large areas on both

land and water. The white oil-only repels

water and will float. Use the universal for

easy clean-up of both oil- and water-based

spills. This product also serves as an excellent

packing material.

GRANULAR SORBENTS

STARDUST SUPER ABSORBENT™ has

virtually unlimited uses. It instantly absorbs

all types of spills, as well as liquids of any

viscosity, leaving surfaces clean and dry.

Simply sprinkle this dry absorbent onto the

spill, use a broom to push the product into

the liquid, then watch as it completely

absorbs the spill. The liquid is turned into a

solid. Just sweep it away.

Stardust will not harm people, plants,

animals or surfaces including concrete, tile

or asphalt. It contains no reactive chemicals

and is approved for use in food processing

facilities.

This light-weight product makes clean-up

quick and also costs less to dispose of than

other heavier granular products.

6. SECONDARY CONTAINMENT

SPILL BERMS contain or redirect spills away from sensitive areas. The non-absorbing urethanematerial is reusable and chemically resistant. These flexible spill berms will form almost any

shape while temporarily bonding to any smooth surface. They are available in 10-foot lengths

and are ideal for most applications. A low-profile version is also available.

DRAIN SEALS protect storm drains and catch basins. They prevent oil, sediment and othercontaminants from flowing into drains and sewers.

POP-UP POOLS, made from 100% polyethylene to resist aggressive chemicals, expand tocapture leaks from saddle tanks, pipes, hydraulic lines and many other industrial incidents. A

foam ring rises with the level of liquid to raise the sidewalls. Compact when folded, they store

easily inside spill kits.
