    SPOOKS AXE McGARTLANDS PAYEXCLUSIVEEXCLUSIVE

PUNISHEDFOR TALKING TO THE SUNDAY WORLDBy SUZANNE BREENMcGartland claimed his own experience, andthat of other agents, showed the security serv-ices used them then spat them out whentheyd served their purpose.

He alleged the current UVF supergrass trial atBelfast Crown Court was a pantomime not jus-tice and warned star witnesses, brothers Robertand Ian Stewart, the security services might wellbe callous and ruthless to them after the case.

When the Sunday World story appeared,MI5 contacted me and said my interview wouldprevent people thinking of working for themfrom coming forward and would frighten offthose already on the pay-roll.

Thats exactly what I intended to do, saidMcGartland who spied on the Provos for fiveyears.I dont want anyone else to experiencethe nightmare myself and other ex-agents havegone through. Youre promised the sun, themoon and the stars and then youre cast asidewhen youre past your sell-by-date.

    Bullied

Ive no time for any paramilitary groups the IRA have tried to murder me twice. Butthat wont stop me telling the truth about thesecurity services. They exploit and then aban-don and neglect those republicans and loyal-ists they recruit.

I wont go along with the lie that when anagent is resettled in England everything ishunky dory. Its not its a mess. And whenyouve problems MI5 dont want to know.McGartland vowed he wouldnt be black-

mailed or bullied into silence: If they thinkstopping my money will shut me up, they dontknow me. MI5 have been in contact again withinthe last 24 hours threatening further sanctions if

I give any more interviews.I am deliberately speaking out in the

Sunday Worldtoday to show I wont be intimi-

dated. They can huff and puff all they like butthey wont deny me the most basic human right freedom of speech. If I was a nodding dog say-ing everybody should turn supergrass, theydbe upping my money, not taking it off me!

MI5 also accused McGartland of placing thelives of former agents like Raymond Gilmourin danger by his claims that the security servic-es had now abandoned the Derry informer.

In a statement,Gilmour, top, said: My friendMarty McGartland spoke the truth. MI5 haveabandoned us. Marty placed me in no danger.MI5 are trying to stop us talking about the hor-rible reality of our lives.

EX-SPECIAL Branch agent Marty McGart-land says the British security services are try-ing to stop him talking to the Sunday World.

Today, the West Belfast man who infiltrated theIRA, sends a blunt message back: You wont gagme!

MI5 axed a 4,200 a year rehabilitation paymentMcGartland was receiving because he slammed thereturn of supergrass trials in the North and warnedrepublicans and loyalists against turning states evidence.

In an interview with the Sunday World last month,
