Welcome to the 2011-2012 Performing Arts season at Brookline High School!

BHS offers students so many opportunities for creative expres-sion. The Performing Arts Department includes a rich array of courses in drama, dance, and music, and this year will bring two dozen productions to the stage, many on multiple nights! More than 500 students — one quarter of the BHS student body— participate in performing arts, which is a reflection of the imagination and energy that drives this community.

Every production requires the collaboration of diverse artists, each with his/her own personal vision. We would like to think that every student who participates in performing arts at BHS has learned not only about their own artistic skills, but also how to serve a vision that is larger than the sum of its individ-ual parts. We are indeed fortunate to live in a community that avidly supports the performing arts. We are delighted you are here with us.

Enjoy the show!

John Ritchie Lynn Modell Interim Headmaster Performing Arts Curriculum Coordinator

BATV @ BHSBrookline Access Television, located on the 4th floor of the Unified Arts Building, collaborates with BHS in educational and produc-tion services for students. Through courses such as 3D Animation, Digital Video, Graphic Design, Television Production, and more, BHS students have access to state-of-the-art equipment and can edit their programming in newly designed studios.

BATV also collaborates with the BHS Performing Arts Department, taping student performances throughout the year. These shows air on BATV (Channel 3) and can be viewed on demand at www.BATV.org for two years after the show is taped.

BATV encourages the community to visit the studios, learn about television production, explore current programming, and check out BHS student performances on air and online at www.BATV.org.

Calling All Local Businesses!

BHS’ Friends of Performing Arts invites you to purchase an ad in the performing arts program books for the upcoming school year.

This is a great opportunity for you to gain wider community visibility for your business while supporting the arts at BHS.

Your ad will appear in the programs for 3 blockbuster BHS performing arts events: the winter music concert, the musical, and the spring dance concert. Recent ad revenue has been used to upgrade the auditorium’s sound system, install new risers in the dance studio, and commission a piece for the combined music ensembles for the Spring Music Festival.

Contact Sue Sturman at [email protected] for more information.

Special thanks to our advertisers!

Brookline High School and the Friends of Performing Arts extend a

special thanks to our business advertisers for their support of the

more than 500 students participating in music, dance, drama and

stagecraft at BHS.

Students, parents, and audience members are

encouraged to patronize the businesses advertising in

the program book and to thank them for their generous

support of performing arts at Brookline High School.

All advertising revenue supports the purchase of items on our faculty

wish list and other unfunded Performing Arts Department needs.

Thank you!
