Teacher Description

This course approach is prepared for children who are new to the French Language or for those who are speaking French at home.Children who are enrolled in this program should know they need to work hard during classes because they are going to be learningFrench for the rest of their lives. This course approach is conversational from the beginning. We will cover a wide range of vocabularysprinkled with basic grammar and we will gradually take your child to a conversational stage. During this course your child will learnfrom the basics: greetings, courtesy words, personal information, school things, colors, numbers, notions like up-down, inside-outside,etc, days of the week, weather, family, face and body parts, food, likes and dislikes and more. City ArtWorks engages trained art instructors to teach their curriculum-based Art After School program. City ArtWorks is anonprofit arts education organization based in Houston since 1982. Their programs serve approximately 50 elementaryand middle schools in five school districts in the greater Houston area.

Teacher Description

Investigate the visual arts through hands-on art making, while learning about various artists, art movements, and arttechniques. Time-tested lessons are structures to achieve a creative goal in a fun educational environment. The coursecontent and inspirational images change each semester, allowing students to explore art on a continual basis withoutrepetition. Students will work with a range of materials and techniques including drawing, painting, printmaking, andsculpture.

Art Smart is an early learning program that introduces young children to art by letting their natural creative abilities unfold ina fun environment. While students explore color, texture, shapes, and different types of art materials, they learn to freelyexpress their feeling and ideas through art projects.Art Smart is designed to help children develop fine motor skills, perceptual thinking, and creative problem solving whilebuilding an appreciation of art. Students will work with a range of art materials and techniques tailored to their specificdevelopmental level.

DCT-DanceCheerTumbling, formerly known as Danse des Enfants/Vibe Dance & Fitness has been serving the Houstonarea since 1994 in dance, cheer and gymnastics instruction. Our company provides classes on the campuses of 13preschools and elementary schools. Our instructors combined possess over 30 yrs. of dance/cheer/tumbling & teachingexperience. We strive to educate children in the basic ideas/techniques of dance/cheer/gymnastics in an environment wherechildren have fun while learning. We encourage the development of balance, rhythm, flexibility, musicality, spatialawareness & dance/cheer/tumbling vocabulary. For questions/concerns please call (713) 974-1936.

A class where kids can get away and enjoy an hour of fun! We will cover learning the proper baseball mechanics in hitting,fielding, and throwing; and most importantly, a basic understanding of the game and rules by working on basic skills anddrills. Elite International will work with all students to improve their skills, such as: hitting, catching, fielding and throwing.

Miss Haiguang Jin (Miss Julia), owner of I Love Chinese earned a B.A. in Linguistics from China 12 years ago. She hastaught Chinese in the United States for more than eight years. She presently teaches in six preschools inside the loopincluding Rice, Cathedral House, ST. Paul. In addition, she also has a studio located in the Rice Village.

Teacher Description

For young children's conversation classes we will be working on greetings, comments, and ordering food in the restaurant,etc. Students learn Chinese in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere through games, songs, movies and role-playing theclassroom.

In this class students will master skills such as learning to dribble, shoot, and pass the ball. Coordination and agility areemphasized to improve the skill level of the students. The students will develop important team work skills while playing ina fun environment. Basketball will give the students a good form of exercise.

Camp Einstein was formed in Houston, TX by a group of educators and technology professionals. Our staff is committed to providing aworld class curriculum for children ages 5-12. We deliver a hands-on, minds-on enrichment experience in a fun and creative way.Camp Einstein classes evoke imagination and discovery through scientific projects. Our unique curriculum is just as entertaining as it iseducational. At Camp Einstein, campers are engaged in hands-on lessons and are motivated to use their critical thinking skills whilelearning principles central to engineering, the earth, and the physical sciences. We offer after- school enrichment classes, summer andwinter camps, birthday parties, and workshops. We are proud to be serving the creative little minds of Texas!

Cardio kickboxing -- a combination of aerobics, boxing, and martial arts. It is one of the most popular fitness trends to hit schools inrecent years. The activity is inspired by martial arts and have motivated a lot of children to learn basic martial arts in a fun and motivatingenvironment.

USA Chess has been teaching children from beginners to experienced tournament chess players for over 15 years. Ourstaff is carefully selected both for their ability to play (all are experienced tournament players) and to teach the game in afun, entertaining and interesting way.

Teacher Description

Children of all ages and abilities will be taught the game of chess from experienced tournament players. Lessons are tailored to theabilities of the class. Beginners will be taught the basics (how the pieces move, the rules, etc. ) while more experienced players will begiven problems to solve, lessons in tactics, checkmates, openings, etc. Children will be split into groups by ability if more than 20 childrenenroll.

This class is designed for those who have been taking Chinese classes for more than two semesters and able tounderstand at least 100 words. We will have a story for each lesson and each student will be an actor. Students will havelots of fun while learning and experiencing the real life conversation.

In this class we will focus on helping your children memorize about 200 most commonly used Chinese characters that willenable them to read simple Chinese story books, and teaching them how to write about 80 basic Simplified ChineseCharacters. All the lessons are designed by I Love Chinese, LL for beginner readers.

The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is a nonprofit organization founded to advance education about the process,product, and history of craft. The Center's major emphasis is on objects of art made primarily of fiber, metal, glass, clayand wood. As a resource for both artists and educators, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft offers the community atlarge a unique opportunity to experience the excitement of the handmade through workshops, gallery talks, studiodemonstrations, and educational outreach programs.

Teacher Description

Create animal themed artworks from wood shapes, glass beads, wire, paper, fabric and/or clay. Your creations can be based on real orimaginary animals! Experiment with a variety of materials, techniques, and tools related to craft media: clay, fiber, wood, blass and/ormetal.

Bayou City Fencing Academy is the oldest and largest fencing facility in Harris County. Our instructors have extensive experienceteaching in both public and private schools. They themselves have all been exceptional fencers. Our fencers have won gold medals inlocal, state and national tournaments and have gone on to some of the most prestigious universities with fencing scholarships. We are amember of the United States Fencing Association and as such have hosted National as well coordinated the Houston NCAA fencingchampionships and senior and junior Olympics.

Teacher Description

Move over three musketeers!! Fencing, a classic sport with history, drama and style, excites the imagination, encourages creativity andbuilds confidence in physical and mental skills. By requiring concentration, discipline and quick decision making, it improves thinkingskills and academic performance. Classes for both beginners and continuing fencers are structured to provide instruction in a curriculumappropriate for young students. The sport is taught in a FUN and captivating atmosphere of games and activities with focus on physicaldevelopment, coordination, fencing tactics and techniques. Students learn unique footwork, fencing actions, scoring, terminology,tournament protocol, strategy and problem resolution. MOST of all…Fencing is FUN!!!

Noel Foreman developed a curriculum over her 35 years of experience at Bellaire High School and the Glassell School ofArt, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She has taught children of all ages Her experience includes multi-media, drawingand painting, experimental drawing, and advanced drawing, theatrical drawing and design, along with starting the FashionDesign department at Glassell. She participated in many community outreach programs, as well as directing the onlyFashion Design show as part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston program.

Teacher Description

What fun to become a fashion designer. Learn to use scissors. pins,tape measure, and even learn how to sew on a realsewing machine. The students will learn to draw a real fashion figure, and put their creative drawings in a sketch book.Many fabrics, trims, buttons and assorted decorations will be used. The teacher will give assignments, however, thestudents are encouraged to use their original ideas. All of their designs and supplies will be taken home at the end of thesemester. With a combination of hand and machine sewing skills, they are on their way as fashion designers. The class isalways full of excitement.

This class will provide fun physical activities involving low impact boot camp exercises. In addition, exercises that willinclude teamwork, agility, etc. will be provided so that the kids will be prepared for field day activities scheduled in theschool during the Spring Semester.

Crafty Scraps is a well respected art and crafts company that has been serving the community since 2005. We pride ourselves involunteering our services to " the Ronald Mcdonald house" and "star of hope"!!! We are heavily involved with HISD, FBISD andnumerous daycares in the Houston area. Crafty Scraps goal is to give you more than what's expected!!!!

Teacher Description

Unleash your creative side in this cool crafting class! Explore decoupage, collage, stamping, paper mache, painting and more. Eachweek a new technique and a finished product! “Forever DIY Crafts” allows children to experiment with self expression and creates anenvironment where the boundaries of artistic creativity can constantly be pushed. Through the stimulating atmosphere students becomecurious, confident and creative decision makers!

Our mission at American Robotics Academy® is to excite, inspire, and motivate young people about the fun, importance and impact ofrobotics technology in today's world. Our classes teach students to understand "how things work" through hands on activities thatdemonstrate the principals of simple and motorized machines. They gain experience with design and problem solving through the use ofgears, motors, wheels and axles, pulleys, and remote control devices. Working in age appropriate teams, students learn a variety ofways to design a robot to do the things they want it to do.

Teacher Description

You have gotten a little crazy and possibly even finished our apprenticeship. Are ready to stair-step your way to the top? If so, this isfirst class for you to consider. Now you can collaborate with your teammates to prepare an infrared Wireless robot for a variety ofactivity-based challenges. Students will explore the use of motors, gears, pulleys and IR technology while building Lego RobotInventions. Each build will be followed by a thrilling challenge that illustrates the need for "simpliciity" and the pitfalls of "complexity".

Common Cents Kids (CCK) was born after our founder, Eda Morita, created the popular Kids’ Marketplace Club which now runs at twoHISD schools. While the club focuses on preparing kids to open their own business, CCK’s after school program focuses on in-depthteaching of advanced social skills and money basics. The program is based upon research in communication, finance, self-improvementbooks, and teaching resources. Her background includes certification from the National Financial Educators Council, soft skills from hertime as a physician, training as an insurance agent with a wealth management firm, and experience as a volunteer teacher. Calling all 2nd to 5th graders! Do you want to become a great leader or maybe even president? Do you want to gain respect from yourfellow classmates? Do you want to learn how to make lots of money? Learn all the skills you will need and more through interactiveactivities and games!

To Parents: Through fun and immersive activities, kids learn to become financially capable adults who know how to communicate well.Each semester will have new lessons mixed with the core basics to reinforce and practice vital skills. Have fun using fabric, paper, and othermaterials to make accessories for your new doll friends. Create miniature toys, food, dishes, etc. for your dolls out of polymer clay andwire. Use a pasta-making machine to create different color patterns and textures on the clay. Polymer clay will harden as it bakes in aportable oven.

Julia was born in Manhattan and studied at St. John's School until midway through her sophomore year, graduating from Houston's HighSchool for the Performing and Visual Arts in the Vocal Department. In 2013, she graduated from the University of Houston College ofLiberal Arts and Social Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, with a triple minor in English Literature, Human Food Studiesand Nutrition, and Interdisciplinary Art, emphasis in Theatre and Dance. Growing up in a musical family, with both parents as musiciansand Juilliard graduates, and older sister, an actress, singer, dancer, Julia has been performing since her younger years. She is pursuing acareer in the arts and is involved in big band performances, jazz gigs, stage plays, and musicals. She is also a Yoga teacher with plans tocounsel in the fields of nutrition and holistic health & medicine. Teaching in her areas of expertise is one of her passions and aligns withthe creative work she pursues in her daily life.

Introduction to the fundamental skills and strategies of organized volleyball. Volleyball requires development of thefollowing individual skills: forearm pass, set, spike, block, dig, and serve.
