Born in Carrickfergus, County An- trim, Ireland on July 20, 1922, he was a son of the late William and Emily (Taylor) Patterson. His parents moved from Ire- land to Winnipeg, Manitoba with he and his brother James, when they were young boys. William was a Canadian Veteran and served overseas in Europe in World War II with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons. He served in Korea with the Strathcona Horse. He retired from the Military in 1972, and then worked for Mack Truck in Oakville. He is survived by his wife of 59 years. Shella Patterson (Shand), Oak- ville, Ontario, Daughter Heather Rea, (Steven Jensen), grandchildren Rob and Andrea MacGregor, all of Halifax; his brother James Patterson of Winnipeg, Manitoba, who was very special to him. Remembered by Betty Shand, Alistair and Joyce Shand, (Red Deer, Alberta) and their families. With special thanks to all of the Northridge Long Term Care Centre staff, to Wendy Taylor for her great kindness to "Billy". to all of the Tra- falgar house staff, and to Angela and George.
